Re: Does DBZ's OST Feel Lackluster at Times?

The biggest problem that Yamamoto and Sumitomo have is that they want to score Z like it's Power Rangers. They see Z as a juvenile show for children with bright colors, energy beams and silly puns. And while that's sort of true, they forget that Z also has a story with character development, and mo...

Re: Is the Japanese Version Underrated?

Even if it was super accurate it still wouldn't be the original. A dub can never be the original. By very definition its different which is why I stopped caring about why and what FUNimation changed. FUNimation's version is not DBZ by Toei Animation. I care about the show made by Toei Animation. FU...

Re: Representations of Goku's character.

They both have their flaws, but at least Super Gokû isn't boring, and he's physically an adult so my ship actually floats (even if it's got some holes in it atm). He's still at the mercy of whoever is writing him any given week, but at least he's an adult. King Ryû does him justice; wherever he is....

Re: Is the Japanese Version Underrated?

I said underrated because they kind of treat DBZ as its a western Type of Cowboy Bebop or where English Voice make it better Settings don't mean anything. The original audio of Cowboy Bebop gets the dialogue and the plot across to the viewers just fine. The performances are also quite good. Yamader...

Re: Representations of Goku's character.

I personally feel it is hard to make a decision on which version of Goku's character is better, GT's or Super's? I wold like to discuss this a little bit with you guys on the form. Both of those interpretations of his character is a little flawed though, as in Super he goes from idiot to selfish to...

Re: Is the Japanese Version Underrated?

We are talking in the United States, right? Then yes. I feel like the dub is particularly bad among dubs in general, and the original Japanese is fantastic among voice productions in general. Now obviously, the Kai dub is pretty spot-on and I have nothing but admiration for that version, but the fa...

Re: Is the Japanese Version Underrated?

Dragon Ball Super has forced most dub only fans to adapt to the Japanese version, and the response has been mostly positive. Some people still complain about Goku's voice, but those people have probably never seen DB/Z in Japanese, so they don't have the natural appreciation for the voice like sub ...

Is the Japanese Version Underrated?

one thing which I always notice when Watching any DBZ Clip and any posts of DB related thing, the fans out there often call dbz an anime where "the dub far surpasses the original" or "English Dub made it better" and they go on giving examples of DBZ as a Quality Dub and go on comp...

Re: Does DBZ's OST Feel Lackluster at Times?

During the Cell arc I hear a lot of these two: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dFJz7kmNK8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXrLhDF8xE0 I personally feel they give off a different level of intensity than previous "action" pieces like M814 B which was mostly played during Saiyan and Freeza ...

Re: Does DBZ's OST Feel Lackluster at Times?

i Disagree, the music neccessarily don't need to be like Naruto or Yu Yu Hakusho soundtracks, orchestra Can be powerful as well, the mixing of instruments is a thing too and Kikuchi too had some kickass Music as well like, For Intense Fights music like : https://youtu.be/cG8YdwCVZSc https://youtu.b...

Re: Does DBZ's OST Feel Lackluster at Times?

Problem with Kai music, is placement, i like Formidable Opponent, Saiyan, but after i heard it for 100th time through series, i got tired of it, same thing happened with Kkuchi replacement score, almost all music was misplaced, and it didn't help they were allowed to use only post Freeza soundtrack...

Re: Does DBZ's OST Feel Lackluster at Times?

I think the Japanese score lost its "flavor" within the Majin Buu arc. I must admit the Buu arc music is just there, I think the only track I can recall that is exclusive to the Buu arc is Ultimate Gohan's ready for battle music. That's just the second opening song with a higher pitch. Th...

Re: Does DBZ's OST Feel Lackluster at Times?

I've noticed many fans consider Shunsuke Kikuchi's score to be some kind of masterpiece. Being a fan of the original version, what I'm about to say might sound blasphemous. Now, I've throughly enjoyed Kikuchi's score during the Red Ribbon Army, Tenkaichi Budokai, and Piccolo Daimao arcs, and it was...

Re: Nozawa, Tanaka, Furukawa, & Others Honored Among 'Top 25' Japanese Voice Actors

http://www.anime-now.com/entry/2017/01/12/000008?utm_campaign=ANN Just saw this via a link on ANN, and thought it was pretty neat. Apparently a station in Japan just recently had a three-hour program dedicated to selecting the top 25 voice actors, as selected by their peers, and was chock full of f...

Re: Inconsistencies with the US English Dub

If we're REALLY going to get into the way voice actors sound, why not talk about some of the ones people have with the Japanese version? Goku, Gohan, Goten, & most other people in their family are voiced by Masako Nozawa & she sounds like a woman when voicing every one of them. Same goes fo...

Re: Battle of Scores: Tokunaga vs. Kikuchi

Yes,I think Path to Power was not really that good with Tokunaga Score,it worked well for dark space adventure sci-fi Dragon ball GT but not really dragon ball movie and the Kikuchi Score is my favourite from All 4 Sumitomo, Kikuchi,Yamamoto and Tokunaga and i don't think Funimation should have repl...
