Re: JSAT & Raging Blast 2 Specials

Since we're on the topic of Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans, I have a question, myself. On the North American Raging Blast 2 release, are the English subtitles for the special optional, or are they part of the image (I'm hoping for the former)?

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray

Given how difficult and time-consuming these blu-rays have been said to make, and how many sets there are going to be, I'd say cancellation is actually a possibility. Not expecting it, but this isn't running the masters through a machine, this is probably comparable to what Pony Canyon did. Either ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z Movie Pack 1 (1-5) DVD set at RightStuf!

Even though it's the Movie 8 cover, it still looks pretty bad. They could've used the Movie 6 cover, http://www.daizex.com/guides/movie_guide/dbz_m06/ or the Movie 9 cover. http://www.daizex.com/guides/movie_guide/dbz_m09/ Well, it isn't exactly the movie 8 poster art... http://media.animevice.com/...

Re: [Adult Swim] Parodies Dragon Ball Z In A Bumper

Oh, dear. FUNi's "HaRdC0Re F*CK YEAH" marketing of Z back in the day really ruined the franchise's face... It's stuff like this that embarrasses me as a fan. If only Kikuchi's score would have aired on Toonami instead of Faulconer and shit like Disturbed, I doubt it would be as bad. Oh wel...

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray

I'm still very curious to see how FUNi's Blu-rays will stack up against the Dragon Boxes, that is, with a lossless comparison.

It's interesting to see the DBOX shot with Kai's colors; huge improvement. Scrubbing all of the grain away does nothing in favor of the image.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Movie Pack 1 (1-5) DVD set at RightStuf!

Why does that matter so much? Because that's the part that sticks out while on the shelf. People, people... presentation is everything! :) I buy a product for the actual content. And isn't there another side that he can flip around to? As do I, but I judge a complete package before I decide ...

That Blu-ray art is just completely ugly; who the hell is designing for FUNimation these days? Between this and the movies bundle art, I could nearly vomit.

I think the artwork looks extremely tacky, but I probably won't pick this release up anyways. The Double/Triple Feature sets are a better looking alternative to own these exact same transfers.

Interesting. FUNi definitely would be smart to include these as extras. Hell, they have a ton of stuff they could slap onto the BD releases.

Re: Just how accurate are the Dragon Box colors?

If there's a 'warm' setting for color temperature, I'd set it to that (fairly standard in calibration). I am no expert in calibration, but wouldn't setting the temperature to warm make the whites look even more reddish and yellowish? On my TV setting the temperature to warm makes standard whites lo...

Digital NR : Off, Low, Medium, High, Auto . I would turn this off. Definitely. I can't begin to know the proper calibration settings for your display (color-wise, especially), but I will give some suggestions based on your current settings. I'd honestly turn the backlight down some, as it will brig...

Re: Just how accurate are the Dragon Box colors?

Those look great, Metalwario64! Man, I should really make my own custom DVD-Rs with color correction similar to some of these shots, as well as subtitles, using the R2 DBOX footage.

Re: Naho Ooishi's 3-Chapter V-Jump Manga: Episode of Bardock

You know An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge? Maybe this special is the same idea, except they forgot to tack on the scene at the end where it turns out everything was just Bardock's hallucination as he dies in Freeza's giant Death Ball. You know, I thought of that back when I read part 1 (tha...

Re: A Fellow Member Converts

I first started watching the series early on -- mostly Dragon Ball Z , the occasional random episodes of GT and a few movies -- during the big DBZ internet craze. The episodes I watched online were in Japanese with terrible fansubs, and I remember first seeing the Ocean dub of later Saiyan arc and e...
