Re: How good was the Saiyan Saga as a jumping on point?

I was confused, but I didn't mind. I was into it from the start. Killing off the main character a few episodes in was a hell of a hook.

Re: Overall Would You Say The Dragonball Fandom Is Positive Or Negative Compared To Other Fandoms?

All fandoms are pretty bad for whatever reason. I'm not incredibly involved but I would say the DB fandom of today isn't that bad. Some people come off as condescending but I don't think it's that bad. I used to post on the old planetnamek.com forums back in the early days of the Funi dub. And THAT ...

Re: How much of Dragon Ball do you actually think is good?

The manga arcs are great . Freeza arc has some pacing issues (especially in the anime) and Namek as a setting is dull as hell. The Android arc suffers because the characters have become so powerful with so many tools at their disposal they have to be written as dumb or callous. But the highs of both...

Early 2000's DBZ AMV's set to Linkin Park music really resonated with people

The massive roster turned me on to this game even though I had played BT1 to death (and was pretty sick of it). BT3 was even wilder - you mean I can pit Tambourine against the woman Saiyan from the Bardock special?

I love "great equalizer" type moves like the Kienzan and Kikoho.

I'm OK with it if they make him more interesting than he was in the Z movies.

Re: How were you introduced into the franchise?

An issue of EGM in late 1993...I want to say September or October. I had Super SF 2 on the cover. They had a preview of the import Super Butoden. I thought it looked great, with wild character designs, huge energy beams instead of dinky fireballs and FLYING! Too bad it wasn't that great of a game. I...

Re: Stand out performances in otherwise mediocre dubs

I'll also say that despite the scripts, most of the Ocean performances were fine. Well they were experienced voice actors and not a bunch of people hired off the street so yeah. I would love to see the series dubbed with the ocean cast with the same production as seen in Pioneer's work in movies 1-...

Re: Stand out performances in otherwise mediocre dubs

The guy that played Ginyu in the Ocean dub was great. Sorta surprised to see the love for Dale Kelly's Ginyu from the in-house Funi dub. I thought he was actually one of the worst voices from that initial cast(and that's saying something!). To each his own!. As other's have said, James Marsters feel...

Re: Has team four star been good for dragonball?

I like the Abridged Series just fine but the fans really need to get a grip. The top rated comment on every video is some geek talking about the episode made them cry and how it's superior to the original product in every way.

Re: Is Dragon Ball/Z preferred in Japanese because of the 90s dubs...

The dub has improved leaps in bounds over the decades...but really, even at it's best I think it's just OK. And the fact it's taken them 20 years to get to the point where I think the dub is only tolerable is pretty telling. James Marster's take on Zamasu was great, but it really drove home how medi...

Kuririn blinds Freeza long enough to run away but forgets he has a technique that would neatly cut him clean in half.

Re: Does the Garlic Jr. arc still get lots of hate?

As others have said, it is nice to watch the second stringers actually pull off something for once. The weird thing about Kuririn in this arc is that he spends the entire time getting his ass kicked by Garlic and his henchmen...then out of NOWHERE he completely punks on a powered up Garlic Jr. I thi...
