Re: One Piece Remake, fans are so lucky...

Not speaking from any position of knowledge here since I dropped Crystal before the end of the Dark Kingdom arc, but my understanding is that it got considerably better and more willing to take inspiration from the 90s anime as it went on. Most of the "issues" fans of the 90s show have wi...

Re: Iyoku's plan expand and keep Dragon Ball popular until 2034.

It's safe to be cautious and all but would Iyoku let the articles be published if it wasn't a done deal? Maybe to leverage his/Capsule Corp's position and vision, not unusal during BTS talks like this to get some planted articles in media. Although it's usually done when dealing with public compani...

Re: One Piece Remake, fans are so lucky...

Monthly manga vs weekly anime is an imprtant thing here and I wonder if it wasn't a case of Takeuchi simply relying herself on the anime portrayals of the girls and and affinity for the cast the audience developed because of it. Kind of, I guess. The big difference is that with most manga the autho...

To my biggest surprise, the dub ain't horrible at all. Bulma's great and King Kai could easily rival the OG actor

Re: Iyoku's plan expand and keep Dragon Ball popular until 2034.

I don't understand this situation, this guy Iyoku just got the rights of DB or something like that so he can officialy produce anime series? TOEI, Shueisha, Toriyama or whoever owns the franchise sold it to him? sounds too good to be true, on paper. Could someone explain this to me like I'm a 9 yea...

Re: Inclusivity towards women in Dragon Ball?

I will add I agree with this. There's been some improvement in the modern material for sure. Yeah, and TBH there was an improvement during Toriyama's original material run too if we compare the early DB in the mid-80s to the Z section crossing into 90s. Even the "old times" excuse wouldn'...

Re: Inclusivity towards women in Dragon Ball?

That's why I'm clad sometimes corp Toei will come to the rescue adding Kale which in turn inspired Toriyama himself to add Caulifla and we got a great new fighting duo. There's also 18 who got housewife'd but came back as the fighter in Super. So I would say even Toriyama is slowly improving too. An...

Re: Iyoku's plan expand and keep Dragon Ball popular until 2034.

The deal was about separating manga rights from anime & games - as in removing Sheuisha from having a say about games and anime. They retain the manga publishing/creation rights. Capsule Corp will handle the anime/games rights. Toriyama as the actual author retains the rights to work with everyo...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread

Toei as a whole seems to have learned from early DBS. Like, say what you will about the storytelling in the Universe Survival arc, but I think one thing that can't really be denied is that the production did indeed manage to hold together throughout. And, yeah, they are clearly taking their time wi...

Re: Iyoku's plan to keep Dragon Ball alive and kicking until 2034.

Also it absolutely amazes me how much people want retellings to happen. Was not one of the biggest criticisms of Super besides sweat shop animation was that it wasted nearly 30 episodes retelling movies we've all already seen? Now people want Broly and Superx2 Hero to get tv retellings and you tv s...

Re: DBZ reese's puff

The early days in the US of "Dee Bee Zee" being the catch-all branding for the series is a stain that refuses to come out. True but with Super's massive success one would think this would be the ideal time to push era-agnostic general brand of DB (as multiple subtitles reached equally hig...

Re: Anyone else disappointed with the whole new cell max, gohan beast, orange piccolo etc

I hate how the current designs for all the strongest characters except Goku (Broly, Piccolo, Vegeta, and Gohan) are now all intentionally big and/or monstrous. It honestly doesn't seem very Dragon Ball to me. I actually appreciate this after more than a half decade of very streamlined designs. We'r...

Re: Iyoku's plan to keep Dragon Ball alive and kicking until 2034.

I really dont know if I can stomach more Granolah arcs and Super Hero re-tellings for another decade. I hope that Daima is the pallet cleanser that the franchise sorely needs after the snoozefest we've been attending for the last 2-3 years. This is the most disinterested i've been in Dragon Ball si...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions

Moro arc was mostly Toyo with Toriyama's supervision/corrections/revisions. For Granolah though, Toriyama wrote the main general plot outline like with previous arcs (Future Trunks, TOP) Super Hero section is based on Toriyama's full movie script Toyo wrote the original outline, and then Toriyama w...

Re: When do you think the Super anime is returning? Should I read the manga while waiting for the anime?

I don't even think that's gonna happen. Black Freeza already met Goku and Vegeta once, could kill them but let them go. This is as close as we'll get to Freeza being now a rival who appears here and there, instead of a main arc villain. Definitely possible, worse things happened but I personally do...

Re: When do you think the Super anime is returning? Should I read the manga while waiting for the anime?

When I look at Episode 131, it is the perfect conclusion to "Mainstream" Super, and I suspect this is why Toei chose to end the Anime here. Because, when you look at how the Anime sets up things, Ep. 131 is pretty much the end of the line for Super: - Goku masters and perfects Ultra Insti...

Re: Iyoku's plan to keep Dragon Ball alive and kicking until 2034.

I'm hoping this could means we can see more short term anime projects in the near future. A new movie every few years is a given at this point, but it would be nice to see more content like spinoffs, or Daima being one of several mainline mini-series. I suspect the Super anime hasn't returned for t...

Re: When do you think the Super anime is returning? Should I read the manga while waiting for the anime?

There's no guarantee we'll see the manga-only arcs animated, especially thinking about what audience a potential adaptation would even be for. They're deep into the continuity of a sequel series the target demographic (from the first airing of Super ) has already aged out of. Since Toei isn't in th...
