It's because when Dragon Ball first gained popularity here in America, it became another one of those trends kids get into, like Pokemon. The other shonen series which aren't held in such light are fairly newer and have more developed plots/characters. I bet that in a few years, Naruto and One Piece...

Since it's just movie filler... Nevermind. I'll answer the question. Logically, you can say that he couldn't gather the Genki Dama in a heart of rage, and in the fight with Buu, he didn't gather it as a Super Saiyan--he just pushed it. Another way you can see it is that Super Saiyan doesn't necessar...

In order for a new Dragon Ball series to be successful today, it would have to involve a whole bunch of different elements, like complex plots, deep characters, and a helluva lot of new transformations. Hell, my head started hurting about the time the Saiyans came. I don't think I'd be able to compr...

There weren't a ton of swear words in the Japanese version. If my memory serves me right, there aren't any swear words in the Japanese language, it's just the context and manner one says certain words. I still see Dragon Ball as a kids' show, so having plenty of swear words included doesn't seem fit...

I've always wondered about attaining the Super Saiyan state (if I recall correctly, the first thread I started here last summer was about Super Saiyans). I see it as a trait all Saiyans are born with. My opinion on the Super Saiyan state is based largely on my views of ki in Dragon Ball in general. ...

Ya know, I was actually gonna mention that in my above post. I guess that in the Cell story arc, things were getting a little more serious and mature, so the whackiness of animal-people and monsters just faded away. I mean, imagine, a battle-torn city ravaged by the androids, and all of a sudden you...

The defeat of Piccolo gave him such a relief that he didn't think another threat could abuse the dragon balls once more. On the subject of Piccolo, I do recall people thinking his green pigmentation was caused by him being sick at the Tenkaichi Budoukai. Piccolo fits in with humans much better than ...

I guess you can say it's memory problems. But realistically, Toriyama just forgot/didn't take care of the details. There are all sorts of instances where things in Dragon Ball contradict each other, but none that are actually pertinent to the plot. And for the people of Earth not recognizing their h...

Well, I guess the best way to continue a series after one nearly incomprehensible power is already shown, is to create something even more powerful. After the Saiyan story arc, it was all about power levels (at least, up till the end of the Freeza arc), making huge drastic differences in power essen...

Yep...it just wasn't really aimed at a female audience. But on the subject of Lunch, I do recall reading somewhere (perhaps on this very message board, perhaps it was even I who posted it) that Toriyama had planned to include her in those last few panels showing all the old characters contributing t...
