I think Bulla's my pet peeve. Bulma's been in my mind too long to get mad at, but I knew her daughter's name was Bra long before I ever heard Bulla, so that's the one that bothers me.
Give me my puns, even if it needs a bit of translation.

Re: Was Yu Yu Hakusho trying to copy Dragon Ball Z?
It sorta feel so, the music had a Yamamoto-vibe, the fights similar to Z and there were some VAs from the DB cast, iirc. Same happened with Saint Seiya but neither of these two anime series were ever as grand as they wanted to be, as was and still is, Dragon Ball Z. YYH and SS have really solid sco...

Re: Freeza is a good character now?
...Friends? What are you talking about? He clearly still doesn't like Goku, and has gone back to his evil ways with universal conquest. He's certainly not good now.

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged
Since December's nearing, I wonder what theme TFS will focus on this DBCember. They've done best movies, villains, video games, and moments. To line up with the upcoming DBS Broly release, maybe they'll do BEST SAIYAN CHARACTERS (to tie into the movie) or BEST HEROES since they've already tackled t...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
No, it is "look, Goku looks like that Saiyan who stood against Freeza until the very last moment". Yes, it's common knowledge that Toriyama would have done things differently. But Bardock's stand, from what everyone can tell from the panel, represents the same scene seen in the TV Special...

Seiya and Shiryu from Saint Seiya join the battle! Yes! Finally, one of my favorite Jump series ever joins the battle. I hope they add the God Cloth so Seiya and Goku can fight in their god forms: https://66.media.tumblr.com/b748b4313194cb7f243b84ec710f8927/tumblr_n43c9808lm1s5owz3o2_1280.jpg I mea...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
Yes, we will probably lose the real significance of the headband but still, it is iconic to Bardock, can't really just take that away too. I mean...can't? Pre-headband edit, that's almost a direct shot from the Dragon Ball Minus chapter, only with less battle damage for some reason. That was 4 year...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
Fundamentally, there's nothing stopping the movie from showing Bardock standing up to Freeza. DB Minus didn't, but that's not what DB Minus was focusing on. It didn't even show Vegeta getting destroyed, as it cut to Earth like a month before Vegeta was destroyed. This new Broli movie IS showing Free...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
The Bardock in Minus may not technically be a good guy, but Toriyama also went out of his way to establish that he and his wife are special among Saiyans because of how much they care for one another, and the implication is that if it hadn’t been for Freeza’s influence, they would probably be decen...

Toriyama is worse than GL. Lucas at least came up with new ideas No, George Lucas is infinitely worse, because you can't even get the original versions of Star Wars (Not A New Hope, Star Wars), Empire Strikes Back, or Return of the Jedi. Nothing Toriyama has done even comes close to that (adding th...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
Why only Bardock then? There's not much specific to him about this version of the story, so what exactly is the reason he and he alone realizes some bad shit is about to go down and sends his son away? Better question, why not run away with him? I suppose he and Gine could be punished if it's a fal...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
Point taken, but he still doesn't have the abrasive attitude or slasher smile a lot of the time, and he just magically knows Freeza's gonna blow up the planet without being implanted with any future-vision in minus. He seems to be smiling in a sinister way when he's kicking an alien's face in, he o...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
I'd argue Bardock's defining moment is the first we see of him, murdering people and enjoying it. The entire point of his special is that he's nobody. He's a random-ass low class saiyan warrior who just happened to be the father of a galactic hero, who just happened to be able to see the future for...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
He's most likely still older since we see him out conquering a planet while Goku is fresh out of the incubator. There's a span of some time being covered in those scenes since we see Frieza making first contact with the Saiyans. Yeah, a lot of people are missing the possibility that the flashback t...

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
...And Bardock doesn't really seem to care at all that Hanasia was killed. Every single version of Bardock we've seen has cared about someone, whether it be his team (TV special), the aliens who cared for him (Episode of Bardock), or his family (DB Minus). This version though? Seems to give zero dam...

I can honestly say I didn't expect a Dragon Ball Minus reference...especially one where alternate universe Goku laughs at his canon mother's death.
Feels...a smidge mean-spirited, but maybe that's just me.

YGOTAS is not that close to the season finale as LittleKuriboh will probably do the KC Grand Prix (filler) arc before. Actually, the KC Grand Prix is part of Season Five along with the Memory Arc. But yeah, either way, one more episode left. I'm pretty sure we're going to get Episode 60 before then.

Why would Jap be offsensive? It's a short version of Japanese. British people get called Brits the same way. ...Because it was used as a racial slur for a large portion of World War II? On the subject of said voice actor, I don't think the guy should be fired exactly...but he should at least try to...

I know I'm a bit late at catching up on the podcast, but you guys mentioned the censoring of the DB portion of the manga returning with the SJ edition of the manga, but that's not true...well, not entirely. The first edition print of the SJ Release of the manga kept the nudity, middle fingers, and s...

Re: Is Funimation's Edited Dub Still Airing? (And also, what about TFC's edited dub?)
I don't think regular Kai is airing anywhere on TV right now. As for The Final Chapters, Toonami only I believe, which would be the uncut (and possibly only) dub.
