Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread

No. Its average ticket price is slightly lower compared to F due to either premium formats(IMAX, 4DX) not doing well or it attracting slightly more kids compared to F. Or probably both. Hence, more tickets sold but less in revenue. About Bohemia, I kind of exaggerated a bit. It isn't exponentially g...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread

Bohemia is a phenomenon in Japan. It has kept on increasing every week. It is one of those movies that just click with all audiences and keeps growing. Also, most importantly it has female support and today is Ladies' Day and that has given it a boost, same with Fantastic Beast(the #2 movie today), ...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread

Anyway, I hope it gets better once holiday starts. I didn't see a kids being mentioned. That DB has a lot of fans in the 20-40 yrs range is understandable, but it'll be sad if they can't get the new generation as interested in the franchise. The demo for the weekend was posted btw. Not numbers, but...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread

If it was significant, it would have showed at the weekend. It didn't. Both OP and Conan have been able to reach ¥1bn milestone at their opening weekends due to strong female support after all.

But, anyway Tue is looking about as expected. Dull as hell.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread

Not entirely sure about that. No doubt that the biggest part of the fandom is male, but as far as I know, it has a lot of female fans as well. Might be though that there was little to attract the female audience this time. Flashy man-boobs can only get you so far. I posted a age demo breakdown of D...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread

I don't think it has anything to do with fan reception. This movie has way better reviews than both BoG and F. Hell, the latter was panned by most in JP. It is basically reaching the highest limit of how much DB can do at the movies. F was the high point and it couldn't have gone any further than th...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread

¥80-85 million sounds about right for Monday. Tomorrow will be even lower cause its the most dull day at the box office. Its lower ticket price than F comes as a bit of surprise. I guess the premium formats didn't do as well or it skewed slightly more kids than the last two films. It must be the SDB...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread

What’s the source for the boxes info ? I checked the major big theatres where its playing and counted it. Also RoF outperformed Conan when they were realeased side by side for the first weekend. Maybe Conan aided it, or RoF sapped it, but either way it does seem like the screens have made a differe...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread

Actuals are out. It did indeed open in 467 screens(360 regular + 31IMAX + 20 MX4D + 56 4DX). But, as I explained it doesn't mean much. 3 day total - ¥1,050,805,000(¥1.05 billion) 3 day admissions - 824,205 The weekend(Sat-Sun) was definitely lower than F. Its 3 day total is more or less the same as F.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread

The number of screens hardly has any effect. Conan 22 opened in 384 screens and made around ¥1.3 billion yen in its opening weekend which is huge. A record. While Fantastic Beast 2 opened in 1009 screens(second highest screen count ever) and did ¥854 million. Just an example. What matters is number ...

Forecasts are out. Broli's opening weekend is indeed estimated to be lower than F despite the average ticket price being high.

F - ¥960 million

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread

Highest - 5.7 Lowest - 3.3 Averag - 4.6 So far. After Nichiasa reform, this slot got hit hard as was evident during the ToP post TVSP and while it has somewhat recovered, but still not completely. Even reaching 6% is too much now. Kitaro is following the same trend as late DBS. It has gotten slightl...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread

Fri(Final) - 119833 (65~70% of the market). The total would be as mentioned above around 160-170k. That recovered pretty well.

Oh, and majority of the moviegoers seem to be working men. No surprises there. This more than anything should prove where DB's actual fanbase lies.

80+ now. Adults coming in full force. It will end the day with 90-100k most likely. Who knows could be more.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread

Weekend in JP is Sat-Sun. Fri is an ordinary day. Of course, it would be lower than F which opened on Sat as mentioned. It might pick up evening/late-night today though cause DB's major audience is adults in their 20s-40s. They might watch it after work is finished. Anyway, tomorrow and Sun will be ...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread

The first 2 million attendees will be given presents, so it will be front loaded as hell. Even more than the last film which was also heavily frontloaded cause it was giving away presents to the first 1.5 million attendees. ¥1bn weekend is more than likely, but collapse after that will be just as he...

One Piece, the king as usual. Shingeki's popularity is also pretty damn impressive. Surprised, no Togashi titles made it, but oh well.
