Re: Why is Goku bored?

I guess this is one of the things Super still needs to tie up before it meets back up with the original ending. The Super TV anime at least ended on the note of, with Ultra Instinct completed, there was pretty much nobody left to challenge him, more or less outside of angels and Zeno, and so an untr...

Re: Dragon Ball Magic? *RUMOR*

Given the manga is still ongoing and the two movies under the Super brand name were pretty successful, it would seem weird to completely ignore Super If by "Super" we mean "the loose sequence of events involving Beerus, Golden Freeza, Zeno, the Tournament of Power, etc. as depicted a...

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

These Bits are pretty hit or miss for me. The ones that I like mostly revolved around seeing the way the existing Abridged characters navigate the Boo arc's plot beats. On the other hand, the Abridged takes on the new characters aren't really doing it for me. Maybe that would be different if they ha...

Re: Have any of your Dragon Ball fanfictions (or part thereof) became a reality?

I can understand being neutral towards them but it comes down personal preference how many times a franchise could repeat the same concept before it loses its impact and suffers diminishing returns. That applies to every franchise. I'm sure even the fans who imply something similar happened before ...

Re: Have any of your Dragon Ball fanfictions (or part thereof) became a reality?

There was an old opinion that the series had too many transformations by the end and more of the same in a sequel is only adding to that already long list. The majority of fanmade transformations are random fanart and most of the time not associated with a story or one that many fans recommend. Mos...

Re: Have any of your Dragon Ball fanfictions (or part thereof) became a reality?

Man, I didn't mean for this post to get so long, I'm sorry. Usually when that was pointed out it meant "this was never considered good in any fanart or fanfiction" and not about every idea that has been done before. There have always been some ideas that fans wouldn't mind seeing done offi...

Re: Dragon Ball and the "It gets good in about 85% of the way!" mentality

With the kind of story this is, it should have been apparent from the moment Goku departed for Namek where things would be ending: with Goku fighting the baddest and strongest dude there. Goku defeating Freeza had build up, at least by DB's brisk standards. As soon as Goku learns about Freeza's exis...

Re: Have any of your Dragon Ball fanfictions (or part thereof) became a reality?

I don't think it was a problem to have so many ideas that have been used in fanfiction before. It died down now but it was a little frustrating the reaction you get when you happen not to like one of those ideas. That was usually the only difference. There's countless fanfics out there so it was ok...

Re: Have any of your Dragon Ball fanfictions (or part thereof) became a reality?

About the original quesiton on this post: There are rumors that the SSJ Rose is based on a fanart from early 2000s, similar to the case of "El Gohan Blanco" (the white gohan in spanish) as someone had made fanarts of Gohan having a white hair mystic transformation. All of these, Deviantar...

Re: Another live action thread (yes, I know)

The only reason I don't want the Baba section gone entirely is because you'd lose Goku's reunion with Grandpa Gohan in the process. You can remove the mini-challenge entirely and keep the reunion in there (working it in some other way) or keep the mini-challenge but make Masked Gohan Baba's only fi...

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

My problem with their attempts at being more serious, poignant, deep, emotionally resonant, etc. in the back half of the Cell arc is that I just don't think they stick the landing that well most of time; at least, not as well as they seem to think they do, judging from their creator commentaries. No...

Unfortunately, no, I'm still waiting to see Super Saiyan Raditz show up and be a big enough threat that only Super Saiyan 4 Gogetto can defeat him.

Re: Your opinion on how Toei worked on Dragon Ball Anime

Speaking only about DB '86 and DBZ: In the writing department, their work was definitely a mixed bag. Pacing can get absolutely fucked up sometimes, and a fair amount of the anime-exclusive scenes range from extraneous to forgettable. On the other hand, many of the anime-exclusive scenes are pretty ...

Re: Would you feel confident in the series if it were left in Toyotarou's hands?

I don't mind him being a presence in the Dragon Ball Room (if he is); he has some cool ideas, and being a Dragon Ball Fan™ he's got a good eye for deep lore cuts and "explanations". But after giving the Moro arc a re-read over the last few days, I have to say no, I wouldn't really feel con...

Oh, a tedious line-by-line type response instead of just collecting your thoughts and making a more cohesive reply. Alright, I'll give you one . But if you want me to say something, then here it is: Dragon Ball is a badly aged series. It did have three sagas with a plot (Pliaf saga, Red Ribbon saga ...
