Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 100

The first shot pretty much sold me on this being a fantastic looking episode. I think we can all agree that if Yamamuro stepped down Takahashi should be the one to take his place. I'm about as giddy as I was watching 110 despite how much less impressive the animation was this episode. Well done.

Same. There were a couple of nice close-ups of leg and arm rotations in the first half that looked really good and helped the limited animation feel more lively.

Re: Glorious Anime Screenshot Thread

The battle against Kid Buu honestly has the best art in the entire series(DB,Z,GT, Super), with one Uchiyama episode looking bad throughout its run. Is this from Kai? The green tint ruins it. Um..... Yeah its Kai, but all theses images have already been color corrected. [spoiler]Green https://i.img...

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 100

Just wow. I am at a loss for words at how good this was. The only criticisms I have are the second half of 109 and a little bit of the first half of 110 being a little meh but I am stunned at how good that was. I literally squealed seeing that gorgeous rotation from Takahashi. The direction, the sco...

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 100

1. Yamamuro has had decently extensive involvement in correcting stuff, so the answer to the question "where is Yamamuro" is that his been here all along. He seems to be correcting key shots for rushed episodes, or correcting scenes for marketing value. Some examples that have been discussed at len...

Re: Does Tanaka play a more convincing male than Nozawa?

It depends on which era we're talking about I suppose. I found Nozawa's younger performance as Goku to never cross into the "old lady" territory that I have heard many fans complain about and instead often had a softness that she sadly lost as she aged. Tanaka has been very consistent in her voicing...

Re: Color Correcting the Dragon Box - 3 Part Spectacular

Pretty common misconception. The sky is actually supposed to be green in that fight. Not according to kei17 . Can't remember where or when, but I think he's presented the best evidence for the blue sky (as seen in the Level Sets ). To be fair, those sets do have a hint of green... but no where near...

Re: Color Correcting the Dragon Box - 3 Part Spectacular

Are the people really sure that the seasons sets have true colors? (except crushed black etc) cause i have seen that on some saiyan episodes sky might be a little green (even on toei cels and kai there is green) but on the seasons sets it's blue like on animax episodes (or old footage stuff) Kai is...

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 90

Also I was looking for another interesting image but in this case someone took a shot of Cabba vs. Vegeta and they kinda tried to made it look like "the old dbz style" but it's not just a recoloring of the shot; they redrew some things. Anyways, I want you to look at it and know your opinions about...

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 90

Okay, I think need to stop watching Super episodes live through crappy quality live streams, because after watching the episode again in HD my opinion of this episode has significantly increase. This episode looked shockingly good and the transformation of the idol character into the large alien fe...

Re: Is the 'Majin Vegeta arc' one of the greatest in the series?

It would have been better if it weren't rendered completely useless by Majin Buu not being destroyed and Vegeta being brought back later to fight Buu again. It would have been much better if that plot line were much later in the Buu arc and was a climactic ending instead of a futile attempt at redem...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

For instance? What moment in DBZ shows that he wouldn't have done the same thing when he was an adult? In DBZ, he does act emotionally when Kuririn is killed and jumps to get revenge. And when was Goku bashful? Senseless violence? The example of him irrationally running to get revenge for Kuririn i...

They really aren't the same character. Adult Goku is far more selfish, and battle hungry.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

Joji Yanami wasn't as good as Kaio as people claim he was. I liked him very much as the narrator, but I always thought that Kaio should be more animated than how he voiced him. The way he was depicted in the anime was always extremely emotional and bombastic, however I thought that Yanami never quit...

Re: Do Dragon Ball characters have Split Durability?

Within the logic of Dragon Ball maybe, but outside of that, it's like saying someone can survive a nuclear blast but not an equally strong right hook. Both attacks imply a transfer of kinetic and/or electrical energy from one subject to another. It doesn't matter whether the transfer occurs between ...

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 89

I'll admit this is mostly speculative as we know that there are several extremely on-model animators working on Super (Tu as you mentioned, Yokoyama, Inaba etc). Maybe I'm being a little too optimistic considering how little Yamamuro has done other than OPs and EDs.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 89

Interesting info about Yamamuro, I wonder how much on model art the show has that we didn't know was him. It could explain some of difficulty we've had picking out animators styles' in the past when certain key frames were so on model. Yamamuro could have been responsible for at least some of them ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters" Parts DVD/Blu-ray Thread

From those screenshots it looks like the green tint is not that noticeable. It's definitely noticeable at times, in some scenes more than others, but overall it doesn't detract from my experience. It's a lot more visible in comparison shots than it is viewed on its own. On a good day, I can look at...
