Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Personally I think this chapter made up for some of my previous frustrations with their previous fight. The fan service won me over this month. Lol

Hell nah! The manga never stopped and it’s so dope! I wish mire DB fans would read the original manga as well.

Re: I'm done with the dub UPDATE

I’ve been watching Dragon Ball since I was a kid. Even in the 90’s I knew the show was heavily altered for North America and it drove me crazy because I had seen it in Japanese. I’ve always hated censorship. I stick with the Japanese version for most of the reasons stated in this thread but mainly i...

Re: With DragonBall getting more and more global, it's time to include more lgbtqia+ characters

Given that Dragon Ball is an 80's manga targeted at young Japanese boys that was made by a self proclaimed country bumpkin, it's amazing it got as much diversity as it did! But I do feel that if Toriyama were include more diverse characters he'd have to acknowledge that the line between caricature a...

Re: The differences between Toei Goku and Manga Goku

One of the biggest differences that caught my attention was when Goku met Goten. In the manga he's more shocked at how much Goten resembles him than he is about finding out he had another kid. In the anime Goku gives him a big ol' hug. It's sweet and all but there's a problem. Later on when Goku is ...

Re: What Are The Biggest Mysteries Of DB?

If we completely ignore that absurd filler arc where Goku and Chichi visited the after life to get the Bansho Fan, I wanna know if Goku ever got to see Grandpa Gohan again after Goku died in the Cell fight. I think it'd be a pretty powerful scene now that Goku knows he's the one that killed him. The...

Re: Another Misconception Regarding Piccolo

Lol, I love how they feared him at first and now the Kaioshin is pretty much at the mercy of half of the principle cast at this point. He did have a hell of an introduction. There was an aura about him that the character never lived up to. Yeah, it was a cool intro. He's just kind of adorable now. :D

The only ones that matter to me are the manga which consist of Dragon Ball, Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, and Dragon Ball Super.

Re: Would you watch an entirely comedy based Dragon Ball spin-off series?

Jaco: The Galactic Patrolman. It's a one volume manga that's exactly what the titles of this thread describes. It's pure comedy with very little action and it's a canon spin-off.

Re: DB could work as Cartoon Series?

The violence can be toned down to fit American broadcast standards and still be DB, especially these days. The vulgarity was never what made DB what it was. It's not a defining feature. I'm not suggesting this thread's idea is a good one, but simply that the heart of DB is not what you've claimed. ...

Re: DB could work as Cartoon Series?

I don't think the violence is the heart of the matter, nor is it the vulgarity. Remember, DB is a kids' show. The true charm is how it blends a lot of different genres, mixes it with Toriyama's sense of humor and subverts expectations. While Muten Roshi a perv is part of what subverts the trope of ...

Re: DB could work as Cartoon Series?

Dragon Ball doesn't need to be "fixed." It's great just the way it is, hence this forum's existence. This isn't about DB needing improvement but rather seeing how it can be done under completely different visions. The title of the thread is asking if it could work and my answer is no, it ...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

I accept what they have done with Gohan in Super and GT and I really like what they did with Goten in GT. I don’t think I even know how to describe Goten’s character in GT. Ladies man He doesn't get much time in the Super manga, but in the anime I always figured him to be the normal one of the fami...

Dragon Ball doesn't need t...

Re: DB could work as Cartoon Series?

This mentality of everything needing some sort of modern update is the reason why we keep getting remakes and live-action adaptations that no one asked for. Dragon Ball was damn near perfect as a manga and obviously popular as an anime. Why fix what isn't broken?

^ Thanks, I thought it would be easier to keep track of everyone's choice. :) Well my favorites are Beerus and Champa. But if we're talking strictly characters with multiple versions I'd say Yajirobe, fur vest version. Oh, no worries, you don't have to choose a character that has multiple versions,...
