Re: Toei!Chi-Chi - not funny
Toei's characterization of everyone in this series tends to be vastly distilled. They like to take a character's most obvious trait or most popular gag and ceaselessly milk it. I tend to just stay away from the anime.

Re: General "Canon/Filler" Debate/Discussion
I think for me the key thing is that there's not much point in defining a canon unless you're going to actually do something with it. Write fanfiction, or create a fan RPG, or make a big timeline for the series, or a power level chart, or some such thing. And obviously, depending on what you're doi...

Re: Most memorable BS dub lines / names
There's one that has baffled me since I was a kid. Vinegar stomps on Kuririn's ass in the Garlic Jr. arc and proclaims "Well lookie here! I FOUND THE MEATBALL!" The animation is bizarre enough but the line's meaning continues to elude me to this day. It sounds like a punchline to a larger ...

Is there any other little things like that that made it into the series? I'm talking about Ocean here. I know Vegeta says Mondo cool haha It'll take me a while to get to that part though. I'm not sure what you're looking for exactly but here's some miscellaneous weird shit from the ocean dub... In ...

Re: Anybody already stopped watching Super?
People are overreacting right now to be honest. Dragon Ball/Z also had a bunch of plotholes, slow paced episodes, stupid fillers, bad animation, and yet everyone treats them like they were perfect shows and Super is the only one with these kind of problems. That being said I don't think Super is be...

Re: Toei Goku being out of character?
When I think "Toei Goku" the first thing that springs to mind is the first Cooler movie. The imagery of him healing that injured bird with his KI was so cheesy and hamfisted.

Re: Anybody already stopped watching Super?
I dropped Super at around episode 5 (at least for the BOG arc). I don't see the point in watching it. It's an uglier and more drawn out version of something that's already pretty decent. It's the same reason I don't watch Sailor Moon Crystal when the manga is easily accessible.

Re: Tenshinhan debuts in a filler episode?
I guess they could've done better, like have Tenshinhan play out a hitman or bodyguard job to show he wanted to be like Taopaipai. This tbh fam. The implication that Tenshinhan is going town to town with Chaozu pulling these elaborate scams with their pet boar like they're Team Rocket was pretty go...

Re: Naoki Tatsuta Replaces Joji Yanami as Kaio/Narrator
Here's hoping everything goes well and Joji Yanami can recover quickly.
I'm very interested in hearing Naoki Tatsuta's Kaio. I'm used to hearing him do squeaky and nasal voices in Dragon Ball. If they're diverging that much from the established voice this may be a permanent thing.

I'm not a huge fan of this piece personally. It feels a little generic to me. I've never been into Hollywoodesque orchestrated music. I'm probably the wrong person to ask about this one.Doctor. wrote: Next.

Re: Things you hated, but then they grew on you overtime.
At first I despised Budokai 2 for not being more like its predecessor. Looking back I can really appreciate it though. Budokai 2 was truly a sweet spot in between a slow, plodding Tekken Clone and Teleporting Dragon Rush 3 . The story mode was a loose adaptation of the series but that's why I like i...

Re: Things you loved, but then they became a pain in the ass
I was all about those Dragon Ball video games as a kid. I would buy entire systems and handhelds just to play the latest game the day it was released. I took a pair of pliers to my SNES to play the Butoden series and Hyper Dimension. I imported a Japanese Sega Saturn to play Legends and Shin Butoden...

Re: Worst Moment/ Part of the Series for You
According to Kanzenshuu's episode guide the Red Ribbon arc consists of 25% filler and it shows. It's a real slog to get through. 29-33 is such a painful way to start off the Red Ribbon saga and it truly sets the precedent. Then again, even in the manga I find the Red Ribbon arc to be tiresome. Of co...

Re: What do you believe to be the series intended demographi
It's funny. In 6th grade, Yu-gi-oh! was huge in my school. Everybody played it. I mean... everyone. Over the Summer, I think everyone reached puberty, and not only did this abruptly stop, but all I heard these 12-13 year olds talk about was sex, racist jokes, and movies with sexual humor (e.g. Scar...

Re: What do you believe to be the series intended demographi
It's a series where buff aliens, robots and demons fly around, punch each other and shoot laser beams out of their hands. Those things also appeal to adults. It appeals to everyone but I think these elements are particularly attractive to children who treat them with more gravity than your average ...

Re: What do you believe to be the series intended demographi
It's odd to me that somebody can look at a show like Dragon Ball and insist it's for mature audiences or even teenagers. I've always viewed the series in hindsight as the ultimate fantasy of any child. It's a series where buff aliens, robots and demons fly around, punch each other and shoot laser be...
