Do you get embarrassed by your old posts?
Do you you ever look back at some of your posts from when you were new to here and ask yourself "why did I post that?" I sometimes cringe when I look at the grammar in some of my old posts.

Re: Do you get embarrassed by your old posts?
Yes; the majority of my old posts never fail to make me cringe, including ones from as recent as 2011.
One thing that's changed though is the fact I no longer feel the need to jump from Youtube video to YouTube video defending Funimation's dub of Dragon Ball Kai. That, and I've stopped using quotation marks so frequently, although I'm now stuck in a phase of using commas all of the time.
Even so, I don't think I've matured that much anyway."Duh, I'm 13 so I don't have to spell properly."
"Hey, everyone! I'm 13."
"Hey guys, this post ain't very constructive but it's OK because I'm 13."
"All YouTube Dragon Ball users are dumb compared to me, and I'm only 13."
"Dragon Ball fandom sucks- aren't I smart for saying this? I'm only 13 and I know this. I'm so cool.

Yeah, occasionally. I joined this forum back when I was 13 (and much less of a DB fan; most of my experience with the franchise was from playing the video games), and I'm 17 now. My opinions on not only various DB matters, but other worldly issues, have considerably changed since then.

Re: Do you get embarrassed by your old posts?
Oh Christ, yes. If anyone wants to dig back to 2006 they'll find some golden nuggets of wisdom from a hyperactive 11-year-old. At least the Introductions forum is gone now, that's something I guess... but there's still a lot of juvenile whippersnappery to be gawked at. I might actually try to find the best examples of my early Kanz (or DaizEX, such as it was) days and showcase 'em here so others may cringe alongside me. Or laugh. Or shake their heads. Or want to curl up into a fetal position and... okay, maybe that's just me.
Thankfully, it seems that by 2007 I was pretty much sane. When I look back on my oldest posts it doesn't remotely feel or sound like me... even though in some instances I actually have memory of typing out those posts. And jeez, I was exactly the kind of newbie that current!Tori would roll his eyes at and make fun of today.
Although one thing that doesn't seem to have changed is my love of ellipses...

New to the forum? Just want to know when you'll hit your next posting rank? Ever wondered why some users have special titles, and what they mean? The answers to all these questions and more are waiting for you in the Kanzenshuu Member Hierarchy Guide!!

For sure. Confidence + Passion + Belief in one's views and being completely and utterly wrong make any one look foolish. Throw in that I'm a number freak and yea sometimes I look at old posts and I'm like wow. On other sites not DB related I feel the same as well. It's just a maturity thing, I feel as if posting on a forum can really help you in how you address people and topics in the real world based on approach. I was always able to freely speak however I wanted and in turn sounded like a complete jackass a lot of times. Through censorship I have learned a new way though! Lol.

Re: Do you get embarrassed by your old posts?
Definitely. The first year I was on here, the majority of my posts were very cringe-worthy. I sometimes make this face when looking back at that those posts during the first year I was on here:
I don't think it was until 2010 when my posts started to get better. Even after four years of being on here (geez, four years...), I think I still have a lot of improving to do. I know I am definitely better at making posts than my 16-year-old self though.

I definitely would...if I ever bothered looking back that far. Ignorance is bliss I suppose.

Re: Do you get embarrassed by your old posts?
Nothing springs to mind, but I'm sure there's some stuff that would make me cringe, especially with how far back my account goes even if I've only recently started to be active. Especially since when I first joined and posted, I was much less, how do you say...sub inclined. To the point that I actually had some pretty bad preconceptions about most people who came here. I've since matured quite a bit though, thankfully.

I cringe at how bad my English was when I joined the forum. It's still bad, but it was even worse back then.
Oh, and this. I made a promise more than 2 years ago and it's not fullfilled. Seems that I'm not very reliable.

It's at times like these that I'm glad I waited to join when I did. I think I'm at the point where I can make respectable posts and know enough about the Japanese dub to get me by.

Lucky enough to have joined the forum recently enough that I actually don't. I'm more freaked at my post count, then anything.

YES! Some times I'll even edit posts that I put up years ago if I link it in a thead now.

Same. Even though I would have loved to have joined back in the forums early days and have a join date from like 2006 or something, I just know I would have been some obnoxious 10 year old who would've contributed nothing and wouldn't have known what he was talking about.Ryuman wrote:It's at times like these that I'm glad I waited to join when I did. Re: Do you get embarrassed by your old posts?
This thread had me looking back in the dark abysses of my forum past...and it wasn't beautiful.
My answer is: Generally no, but there are moments of embarrassment, not so much in content or writing style, but rather in my behavior at times. Such as easily being dragged into arguments by provocateurs and antagonistic personalities. And I also became heated up pretty often over small things.
But overall it's a "no". But I have to have enough integrity to be able to admit that I have been in fault at times.
There are so many times one can get heated up on the Internet. Presently, I do not care much about that, since I believe that a person isn't ill-willing by nature, but that environmental and social factors (negative ones), bring people to vent on the Internet.
People that are douche bags on the Internet are sad and unhappy people.
Regarding other members, it's nice to see how everyone has grown over these years. Some people come here with hostility, but relax after a while and become well liked.
Simply, with the negative attitude on the Internet, this is a place where people come to know that they can relax and not be on the edge all the time, and not being too defensive all the time.
But still, reading my old posts have made me miss some of the members that disappeared with time from these forums.

I hate to admit it, but yes, looking back at a number of my old posts, a bunch of them make me want to shoot myself.

Not so much here, because I joined when I was around 13 or 14, and I wasn't too bad. There are some other forum sites I posted on when I was around 10. They are a different story entirely...

Re: Do you get embarrassed by your old posts?
I'm occasionally embarassed when I see an old post of mine, but honestly, I've never been one to make superfluous posts. Hell, I've been here for years and years, and look at my post count. I frequently see people that have been here 6 months with 10 times as many posts.
That said, let's take a look at some of my gems.

Hmmm. It seems that's all. I guess I didn't embarass myself as much as I thought.mister yummy wrote:Someone mentioned an eating contest. Re: Do you get embarrassed by your old posts?
I looked back at my old posts a few weeks ago... or months ago? I forget which, and boy, not only were my first posts really bad, I was a huge asshole to people. Well, you can't change the past, but you can shape your future. That's really all you can look forward to at this point. Maybe if you look back at your posts from 2012 in say, 2015, you won't be super embarrassed. I hope I can feel that way. But yeah, all of my early posts are things I get embarrassed about.
