2007 Convention Plans

Post by VegettoEX » Fri May 04, 2007 7:09 am

What are everyone's plans for conventions this year? More specifically, who will be attending the below conventions? I'd like to plan out some stuff accordingly.

AnimeNEXT -- July 6th to 8th; Medowlands, New Jersey

Otakon -- July 20th to 22nd; Baltimore, MD

Anime Weekend Atlanta -- September 21st to 23rd; Atlanta, Georgia

More details to come on the events we'll be putting on, a part of, etc.

Beat me to it, Mike. I was planning on making a Summer Con thread before long.

My sister has long organized a group trip including me and a bunch of our friends to Otakon. She's supposedly deemed cosplay mandatory, and I'm favoring going as Luffy or Sanji from One Piece.

Plus, I'm considering making an AMV for the contests; most likely a trailer/parody. If not that one, then there was another I had planned, but I might have to shorten it a bit...

I really want to go to Otakon if not for Tomokazu Seki, but NEXT has yet to announce their Japanese Guests of Honor. I'll wait before I make any decisions.

Sean was telling me about Otakon but AnimeNEXT would be more convenient seeing how its in New Jersey so most likely that..

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

Since I'm going to AX over in Cali this year, I probably won't be able to go to the AnimeNEXT convnetion itself, but I WOULD like to be involved in another podcast recording, so if you're gonna be doing that on Saturday, I can try to meet up with you guys and be part of the recording in the hotel of choice and what-not.

Otakon I'm definitely going to.

70% chance of me going to Anime Next. It lands on a very party-fulled week so :?.

Once the dates get a bit closer, we should put together plans to meet up at said various cons.

...and we should be guest stars in Podcasts.

I'm going to Animethon 14 (August 10-12) (Hopefully) . There is no chance in hell that parents of a 15 year old kid will get free plane passage to a convention with a bunch of people unknown to him.

So yeah. I'll probably see you guys at Otakon and AnimeNEXT at 2010.

But hey, it'll be fun nevertheless

I might be going to AX, but I'm on the west coast so I probably won't be able to attend any of these.

I would love to go to Otakon since it's only about an hour away from where I live but I don't want to go by myself. And all my friends are not hardcore anime fans like I am. I might convince some of them to come with me but it's unlikely.
My Dragon Ball AMV's:
Pain into Power - Gohan Tribute - Best Character Profile at AnimeNext
The Dragon Ball Life - Original DB only AMV - Coordinators Choice at Anime Conji
When I See You Again [NEW!!!] - Goku & Krillin AMV - Best Drama at Otakon

I'm considering hitting up ConnectiCon this year in Hartford. Heard about it last year and sounds like it could be fun. Plus, it's not that far of a drive for me.

I can't wait for AnimeNext! Funi says they're going to announce some big news about their One Piece dub there and I'm can't wait to see what they'll be announcing.

$10 says they'll announce they've redone the first few seasons in 16:9 as their only change to 4Kids' work. XD

And no necroing post later to take the bet if I end up being wrong.

Actually, unknown to Mike and Meri, they do every year as the couple SSJ4 Goku rescues from a dangerous river in GT episode 40. :P ;;

I really wish I could go to AnimeNEXT or Otakon, unfortunately my spare money's gonna be really tied up for the next few months (several new DVD releases, trip to the West coast, a Wii, among other things). Have fun to those of you whom do go, and maybe someone can give me a shout-out on AnimeNEXT's podcast!
