Heya:
This thread's sole purpose is to help out with the game.
This is not a thread for discussing the game in general (we've got one for that
over here); any posts of this sort will simply be deleted.
Please feel free to ask (very specific) questions, share (very specific) links to articles and guides you have found helpful, gameplay mechanics, unlocks, etc.

Hopefully
this FAQ will be of some help. It's based on the Japanese version though (I wrote it months ago when the Japanese version first came out, mostly by copying from the V-Jump guide for the game), but hopefully that won't throw things off too much. It looks like I'll be getting a copy of the Engish release to review, so I guess that'll give me the chance to update it with the Engish names for things. I mean, I think here we're all workably familiar with both the Japanese and Funi dub names for major characters and attacks, but when it comes to stuff like the various items throughout the game, that might get a little confusing.

That FAQ really helped me out with the pirate cave. Thanks!

What's the best way to level up in Bamboo Forest? I keep using up all my ki before I even reach level 6 and at this point in the game the ki drinks are too expensive for me to buy the half dozen or so I'd need.
Any help would be appreciated.

Keep heading back to East City to heal up is really the only thing you can do, I guess.
The other thing is to simply conserve ki. Often times, you should only use one ki attack on an enemy and then try and defeat it with purely physical attacks.
The bigger monsters will need more ki attacks but enemies like the traitor monks really don't need you to use ki at all. Just attack and active guard.

Whenever I wasn't sure of how well I could make it to the end of the area, I just hung out near a save point and did some level grinding since saving restores HP and Ki.

Thank you both! I've successfully gotten to level 6.
I didn't even notice that saving restores my HP.
I'm going to try to level up to 8 like the FAQ says before I take on Paopao again.

No problem. It actually makes the game a little too easy, but I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth, y'know.

I was thinking the same thing. Not only do the save points totally restore you, but so does actually leveling-up during battles.
Basically, unless you accidentally head somewhere that is WAY out of your range, so far it's been a pretty charge-forward-without-worries kind of gameplay experience. I'm still doing a little extra grinding here and there for the heck of it, and that's more than sufficient.

Out of interest, is there any solid info out there on how exactly each stat affects different things? Like, how does your Power and their Defence get calculated to figure out damage (and what the Defence values of the various enemies are)? I'm especially interested in how Luck is used in the various calculations for criticals and extra chain hits (and anything else it may influence). I mean, if you put every point into Luck by the end of the game would you be getting massive chains with all hits being criticals? I've seen some amazingly in-depth breakdowns of the maths behind RPGs in the past so hopefully there's something out there for this game (even though I know it's not meant to be that hard - I just like knowing what exactly I get for each stat point).

So does anyone know who Enemy 186 is? It's the only enemy I haven't seen, it's the last one on the list and (supposedly) it's not Vegeta. The game doesn't save after the end credits so if it is, well, then it's unattainable.

Have you fought Broli yet? Maybe it's him.

Yeah, I fought and defeated Broli. But he's enemy 185. I assumed 186 would be Vegeta and that I'd get a break to save sometime during the final battles, or after the end credits and that's how I'd get the final scan but no such luck.
Some folk are saying its an error and that there's only 185 enemies in the Japanese release but that sounds a little iffy to me. It's not as if GameFAQs is free of rumour and outright fabrications.

Maybe it's Oozaru Vegeta.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

Also scanned. In fact, I scanned every time Vegeta/Oozaru Vegeta appears in case the game decided only one of the battles counted as the "real" Vegeta.
As I said, maybe it IS Vegeta or Oozaru Vegeta but because the game never gives you a chance to save once you begin to fight him, or in fact give you a chance to access the menu at all, it seems very sloppy for it to be so.

Oh, did you fight the secret pirate robot boss guy yet? Maybe it's him?
I wish I hadn't sold my V-Jump guide for the game. I might be of some more help...

In the sewers under the tournament grounds? Yeah, I fought and scanned him. He's enemy number 9.

What's the best strategy I could use against Piccolo in the Tenkaichi Budokai?
In the first time, I did what I usually do with the last few bosses: Spam my ultimate attacks over and over until I ran out of Qi, and then use my normal attacks till the end.
Sadly, this strategy got backfired at me when Piccolo used his explosion attack and my HP got too low, and I used all of my Qi earlier, and ended up losing the fight.
In the second try, I kept using the normal attacks and to save my Qi for later, but yet again, my HP got too low after the explosion, and even though I kept using the Kamehameha on Piccolo and active guards all the time, I lost again.
And the problem is, I can't use any items in the Budokai.
What are your suggestions?

I'd try leveling up a bit more with the 3 fighters in the small tournament rings first.

Thanks. Three more levels were enough for me.
