I tell ya what was a badass opening actually.
The American/European opening of Sparking!.
The movements were fluid, and well animated, the music fit very well with the action, and unlike the original Japanese opening, it was more like a cut scene, complete with sound effects, and voice overs (at the end anyway). It had a fairly interesting concept, and kept you on the edge of your seat (especially as the end, with the Goku/Vegeta stand-off.
Completely different from later openings of the series, with jagged/horrific animations for each character, making them all seem lifeless, and music just tossed on top, and absolute fanboy-ish "story lines".
I'm absolutely serious, check out the production value of the first Sparking! opening compared to the second, you'll be pretty surprised.

Uh...they were the same horrible animations but with different songs. The whole Vegeta and Goku thing looked downright ugly. Especially with the whole Quagmire head bobbing thing there. They were the same style as in the two games that followed them.

Budokai 3 is the best. Burst Limit also has a wonderful soundtrack. Everything from the Tenkaichi games are God awful.

Favorite OP/ED from Dragonball?

Okay, for the sake of being more involved in this conversation, I'll ignore the dub intro (which is by far my favorite, ever).

Man, as far as OP go, I honestly think Dragon Soul is my favorite (Though Super Survivor is very close behind!). In that same vien, Yeah! Break! Care! Break! is my ED AND my favorite Dragonball related song.

Budokai 2. Best opening theme. Best opening animation.

Budokai 2 for both animation and music. Budokai 3, Infinite World and Revenge of King Piccolo come close.

Final Bout also has good animation.
