Dragon Ball Z: Tap Battle Unofficial - Beam Clash Help?

I'm stuck on Freeza's arc - Piccolo battle and whenever I get into a beam clash with him I lose regardless of how fast I tap on either one of the two icons, and honestly this is a bit annoying because the game can be fun but like this.
