How would you go about in creating the perfect DB Game?

Post by hellobooboo14 » Mon Apr 04, 2016 7:20 pm

If you were in charge of making the best Dragonball video game, how would you go about achieving this?

1. Which character would you center the game around?
2. What kind of mechanics would it have?
3. Would you include the entire Dragonball roaster?
4. Would you focus more of the RPG side or the action fighting side?

The 1st game would be an adventure game with RPG elements that covers the entire DB story.

The 2nd game would be a fighting game that covers the Saiyan, Freeza & Cell arcs alongside the 1st 9 Z movies and the 2 TV specials.

The 3rd game would also be a fighting game that covers the Buu arc, the last 4 Z movies & GT.

Each game will have cinematic battles and cover the entire DB story like the storm games and all characters from each game's era will be playable alongside some what ifs.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

1. Which character would you center the game around?
Story mode would basically be playing as the heroes, progressing through the anime story line.
Maybe a villain story mode after you beat the game, as the heroes.
Characters that fought in DBZ & the movies.
Wouldn't include anything outside of the original DBZ.
No giant characters.
Nothing from Super, no what ifs, no Dragon Ball Heroes, or Dragon Ball Online, etc.

2. What kind of mechanics would it have?
Budokai 3-like mechanics.
Maybe refine it a bit and fine tune it.
Perhaps add finishers like in mortal kombat, but not violent, for example you enter a button combo and if done correctly you transform into a great ape and do a mouth blast as a cut scene.

3. Would you include the entire Dragonball roster?
No, supporting characters would be Z assist though.
Henchmen would be story mode NPC's.
Giants would be bosses.

4. Would you focus more of the RPG side or the action fighting side?
2.5 D fighting game.

So an inferior version of Budokai 3's roster?

Is Tao Pai Pai playable in any of the games? Or General Blue?
If not, the perfect Dragon Ball game is yet to be created.

Dragon Ball would lend its own kind of game, to reflect the slight difference in genre between it and DBZ. Perhaps if they introduced a bit more variety to Dragon Ball Advance's fighting moves, it would be perfect, and expanded the beat em up sections to 3D or multi-layered levels. I'm practically wishing for Guardian Heroes xD Yu Yu Hakusho had its predecessor on the Genesis, and it was great!

Both are playable in Budokai Tenkaichi 3, and I want to say Tao was playable in 2, and maybe even 1 as well. Beyond that, I think they're also both playable in Advanced Adventure (they've about gotta be because in that game you end up being able to play as everything, including floating camera robot things). Oh yeah, and Tao might also be playable in the tournament mode thing for the 'Revenge of King Piccolo' Wii game, I can't remember.

As for how I'd go about doing the perfect DB game...hmm...I don't really think there can be a 'perfect' one, but I do have some thoughts on how I'd do a really, really good one at least from my POV, so I'll have to gather my thoughts together on that.

Actually starting the game at the start of the series.

Wow sort of an old thread but I love it. First off I'd LOVE a handheld game that starts when Goku is a kid and goes up to the beginning of DBZ. It would be loosely based on the story with a battles that are sort of like Extreme Butoden but with more open world freedom. Since DB has traditionally be 1v1 I don't see a reason to change that. Though I would allow the player to carry party members that can be placed in battle instead of Goku if you choose. You would unlock these characters through Gokus travels just like he meets new companions in real life.

Id use some sort of side quest system that allows you to access cuts scenes of things like Goku training with Roshi/Kami respectively which also unlock stat bonuses and/or new skills. The final mission would be to win the World Martial Arts Tournament against Piccolo.

I'd also like to have side modes like 1v1 and team online play as well as a non-story mode which would be mostly like Extreme Butoden I guess.

I'm not that hard to please  I like fairly simple but fun.

Yes, yes, yes. I've been vouching or the forever. The first half of the series really needs more love in video games, because there is such great potential.

Hyper DBZ has already given us the Street Fighter style game we need so now if I was putin charge of making a DB game I would just make another Sparking game but with the following characters added.

Dr Lychee,
Hachiyaku,
Pretty much all the sub villains from the movies,
Characters from Drgonball Heroes especially Chilled,
Mira,
Towa,
Some characters from DBO,
A huge chunk of post BOG characters,
The rest of the evil dragons
and Majin Ozotto.

I'm prettt certain that Tao is playable in BT1. His cyborg form wasn't until BT2

If it was me, I would create a 3DS remake of a brilliant game called Legendary Super Warriors. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PipFIxXh1Bs)
As a card game on the GBC it was hard for them to squeeze so much onto one little cartridge, imagine what they could do with FMV capabilities, MP3 sound and DLC... Who knows, it could happen!
