That explains why Taiketsu was so terrible, I'm curious how would that Saiyan Smash game turn out? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HGmUgaWkis

I think I remember hearing about the Saiyan Smash game in an old Game Pro article that talked about a bunch of games that Atari plan for the franchise.

I remember that too. It did pop up on a few random video game news websites as being a GameCube game. I had no idea that the Taiketsu sprites were just sprite rips of those models, though. It explains a lot.

As a kid it absolutely boggled my brain that Taiketsu and Supersonic Warriors were on the same system. Being older and a bit more familiar with games development makes it clear as day but I still remember the laughs me and my friend got from playing this game and pretending it was the hypest shit ever.

The only person that would think this is even one of the worst 20 fighting games of all time is someone who doesn't play a lot of fighting games.

It's shit, but there's far worse.

It's a pretty awful game. I would put in my worst fighting game list for sure. I paid $5 for a lose cartridge and I still felt ripped off.
