Please check out this really freaky thing in Budokai 3

Post by Teclo » Wed Oct 10, 2007 9:28 am

Ok, this kind of freaked me out the other day when it kept happening... I was in Practice Mode with Videl and I was checking FAQs for her combos, when I turned back to carry on playing Videl was now staring straight at me with the most bizarre expression on her face - wide eyed and open mouthed - and with her head twisted oddly to the side.

"Ohhhh kay~" I thought, and moved the analogue stick - she returned to normal. I left it again and lo and behold the same thing happened after a while.

What the hell is it? It's not as if she just does a little idle animation like Sonic does or countless other videogame characters - her body remains the same while her head twists inhumanly around to stare at you with a ghoulish face.

If you have Budokai 3 can you try this out and see if it happens to you? I don't know if it only happens with Videl or with anyone and I don't know if you have to be on the left (as I was).

In battle, specifically in training mode.

Yeah, everyone does that. They all turn to stare at you if you leave them sitting there for long enough. It's the same animation they use for, I think, Hercule's grapple move.

It does sound like it, when you don't play with a certain character for a few minutes, this happens, like when Teclo was searching for Videl's combos. When you look back, the character looks at you with ghostly-eyes. I think it can happen with all of the characters.

Goku does it too. It's pretty neat, at SSJ3 it looks like the part from the anime right after he transforms in front of Fat Buu.

This answer is kind of redundant now that you've got it to work anyway but, just in case it makes a difference and for other peoples' benefit, it happened in normal practice mode (against anyone) rather than the scripted training mode.

Anyway, surely the developers could have put an idle animation with them waving at you or doing press-ups or something... This reminds me of the bit in The Grudge when the TV goes all weird, the newsreader's face warps and suddenly that ghoul woman is in the woman's bed with her.

That scene with the TV was the creepiest part.

The Ring > The Grudge

I think I caught Goku staring at me once when I turned around from talking to someone and forgot to pause the game.

The truth.

Anyway, now I wish I had a copy of DBZ3 lying around to check this out.

Not really, for me. I just kind of gave a wave/salute and said "Hey old friend."
