Particularly the first part of the Budokai track, though I guess there aren't enough similarities for this to be a rip-off.
Not a rip off. Those are some basic notes and right after the first dun dun dun DUN, they sound nothing alike. Plus, Budokai's is faster. Honestly, anyone could play those 4-5 notes and then call it a rip off when in no way are the compositions the same. Even the instruments are all different. I'd pass this track as not a rip off.

This however, is inexcusable!

The plagiarism is blatant! How could this song go unnoticed for so long? :P :P

Yeah you're right, but as soon as I heard that track I just thought of DBZ Budokai.

So no more chala on dbz anymore since he arranged it? Toei got rid of all his other stuff.

I was joking haha! Though, I didn't realize Yamamoto composed Chala (or did he just arrange it?)

Yeah, he just arranged it. The composition was by Chiho Kiyo'oka.

That might explain why FLOW's arrangement for Battle of Gods was so different. I hope not, I prefer the original.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Yeah me too! Yamamoto should have never became a composer due to his habit of plagiarism but his arrangements are extremely good! I was showing a friend of mine his plagarism today and he agreed with me that some of his 'remakes' were better than the originals.

He is a great arranger and it is a shame he did what he did. His arrangements of his (plagiarized) songs are just excellent ear candy, ChaLa, Battle Point Unlimited, any of his game bgms (the list goes on)! When they removed Yamamoto from composing (and arranging it seems) the quality of music has dropped off a lot. Something about his fusion of jazz, rock, heavy metal, and symphonic sounds is incredible really. Despite his plagiarism, I will, to this day, enjoy what he worked on because of how it sounds. Great inspirational music, great music to pump me up, great music to just sit back and listen to, or a great nostalgic trip down memory lane.

I fault him as a composer, not an arranger.

Anyone find the originals to these songs?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omJtw_ZOcEQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FSVaN3liP0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQm572YCH_w (0:12 onward)

This one seems to take some "inspiration" from Super Buu's theme.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTIk_5pwQEo (from 1:10)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3CVK3Ud2jA (game) <--Pay attention to the bass

Also, I've heard this one in DBZA. Sounds like it's from Kai

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=II86yuO-KL0 (from Butouden 2)

http://youtu.be/h4L2dFoUysU?t=5m26s ( from DBZA )

Edit:

Noticed that someone said this pages ago but the song "Like a Burning Wind" resembles another song called "The Alien" by Slash's Snakepit. Same with "12AM Shuffle" from Budokai 3 and "Ain't Life Grand" from the same band.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPAFYHklYL4 (original)

http://youtu.be/j8H8h7g8Es4?t=35s (copied part)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCNme5PK0-s (original)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdOAOferScI (Yamamoto)

I like how Yamamoto thinks stealing from a small, underrated band would also go unnoticed.

But, as EX said, these may be ripoffs as well, & I've just never heard the originals.

First one - Basically Imperfect Cell's theme from Butouden 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uSg4CDAUgs

Second one - http://youtu.be/mMCLETpKlA8?t=35s

Third one - Again, Imperfect Cell's theme from Butouden 1.

Fourth - I have absolutely no idea.

Fifth - You can hear hints of Mr. Satan's theme from Ultimate Battle 22 starting at 0:48 http://youtu.be/eVwiYLfAz5M?t=48s -----> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVyPU-N4bHI

Also just so you know:

Goku's SSJ3 theme from UB22: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVG07DbFJwY is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZblwNwkunYk

I hope this is the right thread to be asking this in, but i have a question about Yamamoto's non-DBZ work.

On the retrospective article on the main site, it briefly mentions that in addition to DBZ, he had also worked on some of the Super Sentai series. Now, i'm a pretty big fan of Power Rangers, and just recently i decided to check out a couple of Sentai episodes on youtube just out of curiosity. I came across this episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3diNOYwSIk?t=12m20s Right at about the 12:20 mark, there is a music cue that clearly resembles The Imperial March from Star Wars. So does that mean this is a series that Yamamoto worked on? Or is there another guy out there ripping music off from American movies?

Just, Oh my god. Yamamoto actually ripped off a famous classical composer. Schubert, of all people. That's like ripping off Mozart. Did he really think people wouldn't notice?
