What you did to the Dragon Ball community today is completely unforgettable and unmatched!! You've put 4 new unreleased BGMs, including those and those on your Youtube channel, for us to enjoy! I am so grateful!! I could never repay the debt for all the things you've done for Kikuchi fans today (unless I became your life-long slave or something). Thank you a hundred million times!

Yes, thank you very much! These are great, keep up the great work!

Another little project of mine has included attaching M numbers (or kenisu3000's original titles) to Mugiwalaarge's un-ordered BGM rips. The still images used in the videos are always a hint as to where the BGM piece came from, but I have had some trouble figuring out the exact title/piece for a few of these. Any help would be appreciated!

SSj_Rambo,

I've gone through and identified these using my original names (and whatever M-numbers we fans know of):

Thank you so much! I've gone through about 60 of those myself, and once they're all labeled according to your guide, I can start putting together episode-by-episode BGM albums and a complete unreleased BGM collection. There are still a bunch I need to identify, anyone willing to help? :D

And I noticed that the video for Unreleased 20 is a small snippet of Unreleased 24 [Tenshinhan Prepares To Kill Chaozu]. Do you delineate between the two in your documentations? Last time I ran through it (DB movie three, I believe) the last snippet was played, and it was titled Tenshinhan Prepares To Kill Chaozu like the whole piece? I just wonder if it's actually two separate pieces played here?

I'm quite positive it's all one cue. I don't see any reason why it would be two separate recordings, unless someone in the orchestra made a mistake and they had to record a pickup from the middle of the piece.... but that would be practically pointless since the cue is so short anyway. Plus, unless I'm remembering things wrong, many of the other times it plays throughout the series, we hear all of it. That's usually a pretty good indicator (although not an infallible one) that two different parts to a cue, while sounding like they could be separate, are actually joined at the hip.

Makes sense. I will make a note of that! Thanks!

One other thing I noticed: this is the cue titled To Be Continued, and in episode 046 during the scene "Chasing after Bulma in the helicopters" this different cue is played, but is documented as To Be Continued. Anyway, that's how I'm seeing it; and if so, do you know what the title to Unreleased 99 really is?

Just went and checked the DVD and my online documentation... if you'll look closer, you'll notice "Army Attack" is listed right after "To Be Continued". When the two perverts first start chasing after Bulma in their choppers, what we hear is indeed "To Be Continued", and "Army Attack" doesn't start up until after Goku arrives on the scene.

Ah thank you. Sorry to waste your time on that! I must have breezed through it a little too quick.

Also, do you have a complete list of just the unreleased pieces from Dragon Ball? I've collected audio rips of about 115 unreleased pieces from DB (and just about finished renaming them with your naming series) and am planning to soon go through and see how much of DB's unreleased music those 115 tracks make up. Crossing my fingers we have ALL of the unreleased stuff here!

I only have 11 tracks that I haven't yet been able to pin-point the name you gave them in your documentation (some I'm not even sure if they are recognized as music cues). If anyone has time to help identify these it'd be much appreciated!

Hey everybody! I recently got really interested in the music for the series. DBZ's music is pretty much accounted for, but as I can see by the discussion here, DB's is not. I found Mugiwalaarge's channel, and was discouraged by how much work he has left to do. Also, I don't know what his source is, but its quality is not even close to what I'm getting from my season set rips. (Maybe he's using the old doubles sets?) Anyway, here's a list of the unreleased tracks I've ripped/edited/spliced, are clean, and are sfx free, in order of first appearance: (the music from e1-13 on the blue bricks is muffled, so I've avoided it if possible.)

EDIT: Everything's in a post further down.

My policy is zero sfx and voices when possible, so I'm holding out on some pieces until I can gather all the clean sections. I think the double disc DB releases were 2.0 stereo, so the only way to get sort-of isolated music was to invert one channel. But with 5.1, the back left and back right channels are a much better bet for isolated music... usually.
I'm up to episode 21 and I plan to go through all the episodes.
I may (probably will) start to put these up on Youtube, and guess at their M-numbers.

Compare the clarity:
Mugiwalaarge's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bY3x7Xmdrpg
Mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ff6QmiTu7Fw
Thanks so much to kenisu3000 for putting your compendium together. I couldn't do this without you!

Incredible work, Zestanor!

And nice catch on the alternate for "Death March" - not to mention the fact that I somehow overlooked "Goku Runs Back To The Kame House" as containing a portion of "Romantic Ageru Yo"!

Yours is clearer, but it sounds awkwardly raspy. My guess is that you inappropriately downsampled it to 44,100 Hz.

I didn't downsample it, and I went back to that original part on the back left channel, no amplifying, and that's just how it sounds. :|

Uhh, this is interesting. I got this on the "Kame Sennin Rock" video:

Your video may include music that is owned by a third party.
Your video is available and playable.
Here are the details:

"Burdson, Sammy-Do The Boogaloo", sound recording administered by:

That's weird. IIRC, the actual 5.1ch track sounds smoother and more natural. The rasp in all of your rips sounds just the same as that results from inappropriate up/downsampling. Is there something wrong during your ripping processes or does it really sound that bad originally?

That's because "Kame Sennin Rock" is, essentially, the Boogaloo. I caught on to the idea that it's not an original tune when I heard it in a Red Dwarf episode a couple years back, but it wasn't until now that I've been able to figure out where it came from (thanks!). Have a listen to this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JE3sgi6hFBY

(Also, check out the comments. "Master Roshi sent me here". Seems we're not alone. :P )

As a matter of fact, that and the recording for "Kame Sennin Rock" sound like they're probably one and the same, just that the latter has a "radio source music" filter on it. So instead of being an official part of the DragonBall music library, it must have come from Toei's studio library of assorted music. The fact that your video made it through suggests to me it might be public domain.

It's 48k the whole way through. I have it up in Audacity right now. If you rip season 1, disc 3, it's right in the middle of VTS_06_5.
II use the Back Left channel, because it usually does not have sfx or voices spill over into it. I amplify it to ~3 dB less than the max w/out clipping. Then I save it as 320kbps mono mp3. I wasn't planning on uploading these until literally yesterday, so the mp3 was for my own storage. Still, whatever artifacts are in the YouTube upload are also present in the original back left channel of the 5.1, "raw," straight from Audacity before any amplification or compression. It's really just that "bad." 448kbps is a lot to split among 6 channels. It's gonna sound kinda bad if you play it loud on high end speakers or headphones.

No, the real raw ac3 file sounds superior. Compare my rip with yours: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g74nU2F7S64

Compared to my rip, yours has somewhat distracting rasp in the brass sound, which is neither present in the original ac3 file nor something results from mp3 compression. I recommend that you use a different software to rip and convert ac3 files. Also, it's a shame that you saved the files only in lossy mp3. However high the bitrate is, you lose details in the high frequency range.

Okay! I figured it out. It's the program I used to slap the pictures onto the music. The videos from that indeed sound exceptionally bad. I can redo that part no problem. Forget what I said about the rasp being on the original rip; I was comparing the mp3, not the video, to the original. The original is fine, though not absolutely perfect. (I identified a tiny bit of what I thought you were referring to was the rasp, but now I know the video is the culprit). I was having a hard time believing that there was a problem with Audacity, I mean that's as basic as you can get. My final format will still be mp3 for personal use, but because you mentioned it, I'll use lossless in the chain whenever possible from now on.

The BGM List:
The released tracks are in green, with their set track numbers. Thanks to Kojiro Sasaki for cluing me in on some things! The Youtube versions have zeroes for now as placeholders so that I can automatically sort the playlist. If, through the 444 Kikuchi scored episodes, and the 16 movies, a piece does not exist without voices or sfx on it, obviously I can't do anything about that.
