Why is it called time chamber btw? He debut before ROSAT and I don't recall a time chamber. Unless they mean Popo's little time machine thingy
As I recall, Faulconer never scored those earlier episodes (obviously not in the first dub and I think not even in the redub). I think several of Faulconer's tracks were named retroactively. It was pretty clear when the in-house dub started that the music was being made and placed largely at random and certain tracks eventually settled on specific situations. The music that they ultimately used for the "Episode is ending" moments (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pN87YVgP6es) originally appeared at various moments during the Ginyu episodes.

Yup this is one of those retroactive cases...and honestly I can't remember what the original was for or what it was named for ^^. I do know that "Time Chamber" existed already when I first got hired. I believe it was written for a scene in the Ginyu Saga.

Also the earlier pieces were mostly written to picture. There was no library to draw from at first...and once there were about 6 or so episodes of straight music they started doing editing. I came in just after that process got started. #68 was the first Faulconer episode. I think they were editing by about #74 or so. My first show was #78, and all I did was edit. If I couldn't make a scene happen with stuff from the old 20 minute blobs of music, I'd ask Mike for something new. Eventually I started making sure we saved off individual pieces of music as we recorded them. It made it easier to find them later instead of having to search through a 20 minute track =P This is why a lot of older tracks never got released.... The CDs were made from the smaller music files we saved off as we went. The older pieces from the first 15 or so episodes were never saved off individually from the final show's music score, which essentially was one long piece of music.

It's also more confusing because we didn't always do the shows in order...My first episode was #78, but I'm pretty sure my second was #81 :)

I believe the first time "Time Chamber" was used was when Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, and Krillin on Namek realized that Freeza still hadn't used the dragon balls because he didn't have the password. (Episode 68/original dub episode 54 - Ginyu Assault)

I believe it was actually first used immediately after goku defeated burter.

Haha my bad, you're right. Guess it was used twice that episode.

Coycoy's a fan? No way. ;)

Frieza-Ginyu beat is one of my favorite rips you did. Now that's music to walk slowly to. Another good one was your Dr. Gero theme. I could never find that opening part in the released soundtracks, and it's easily some of the most intense dub music.
A YouTube channel with no AMVs on it? I know, it's hard to believe.

Gohan fights Freeza I love this theme so much...badass Gohan theme. Love how it plays while Gohan fucks up Boo. I especially love how there's no ki blasts or extremely fast fighting, it's just pure domination.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

I want to contribute and pick out favs of Mike's work, but it's so confusing because I collaborated on a lot of them.
Here's my favs of Mike that I had nothing to do with, performance or writing wise.

17 and Piccolo Talk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7ee0XYe9Ig

16 Rips of Cell's Tail
I couldn't believe it when he wrote this....Me: "Mike did you have a rough week last week?" Mike: "I worked a lot of hours last week Scott". Me: "Ah, well Mike that piece you wrote last week is the angriest shit I've EVER heard from you!" He gave me a high five.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uC5ui6ZKSPk

The "Time Chamber" track people keep mentioning is also a fav, but I remember it as it was in the old show. The sadness theme naturally precedes it and I love the entire progression it goes through.
So yeah, combine these two into one track:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcqcOOFe894
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEK45kn9oxU
This track predates my time at the studio.

Mysterious Person is also awesome (and was done after I left)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrLvJiBDGZ4

Frieza's Revival
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEPb8hF8Qc0

That famous section of Hyperbolic Time Chamber is also a fav.
http://youtu.be/U0fqMYiJO0o?t=1m31s

and to cheat a little bit, the Dragon Theme is awesome. Let's again go with the combined original work, done before I started at the studio.
This:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGBdHN_PiKc
Plus
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgJ1heSrskY
but only up to 1:12 because that's where my looping and additions to the theme start.

Of Bruce's work, hands down my favorite is Ginyu Transformation. It predates my time at the studio.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCwQmCHeU7E

I'm honestly less familiar with all of Julius' pieces since they ALL happened after I left.
But maybe Evil Buu would be my fav:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJpRPXoMh3I
It's just a variation of Super Buu (or other way around?) but the melody isn't as cheesy to me so I pick it.
They both have the same chord progression, tempo, time sig, instrumentation, but that's a good thing because he's developing related themes.
Hmm, going by that thought maybe I should pick the Buu suite as my fav from Julius :)

Hey Scott just out of curiosity, which pieces besides Ginyu Transformation and the main theme were Bruce responsible for?

Guru's Theme
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zx2XeRofjI

Closing music
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyx5nBs8lPc

The Saga Continues (Thanks Gonstead! I couldn't remember the published name, it never had one in the studio)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYK_QqH-BXk

Cell Jrs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dc5_OQumde0 (Mike did the FX processing though)

Goku Dies
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9bDz3PgGbY

& probably Tournament March
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7LTQ-qUNaQ

He did some comedic music for Ginyu in frog mode as well. He was really proud of quoting "Tristan and Isolde" as a joke in there. He talks about it in an interview as well.

I think he did the original version of this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUIkfzEByWY
I ended up extending it though (0:30 to the end)

This basic melody:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nN4Y12IA-o0
was something he sang to me in the hallway. I orchestrated it and added the jazzy stuff at the end.

Oh and this melody fragment in SSJ3:
http://youtu.be/3s2Ksz7rpck?t=1m28s
was Julius quoting a Bruce guitar line from the opening music (the lower guitar, not the high one)
http://youtu.be/mcV-73d_0YA?t=9s

I should also say this melody fragment:
http://youtu.be/3s2Ksz7rpck?t=1m1s
is Julius' pseudo quote of this:
http://youtu.be/mcV-73d_0YA?t=41s

I'm sure there's more but I wasn't there for the first bits of work....I usually assume it's Mike unless I've been told otherwise for those early pieces ( < episode 78 )

That 'Scenes from last week" I think you're referring to is "The Saga Continues"? It was used as the recap music (Last time on DBZ!") and the next episode preview (Next time on DBZ!)

I always assumed the wild guitar noodling on the opening track was yours, but I guess that's before you were with the studio?

That was a few weeks after I started. I was only an editor at first. Bruce had a guitarist named Bud Guin come in and play the opening theme.

I've said it a million times before and I'll say it again. Super Buu's theme. It's as if Julius Dobos studied the Majin Buu character and the Buu saga itself the second after being hired to work for Faulconer Productions. I mean, all the newer tracks made for that saga is very memorable and there really never was a "Why the hell is that track playing during this scene?" moment.

Did Mike do the Frieza theme?
"My dear friend, how can I make this even more painful for you? I could crush your hands, rip off both of your ears, or maybe I'll just smash in your tiny little cranium. Ehehehehehehehe."
—Frieza

"Alright big guy, whatever turns you on."

Actually we never talked about who's idea that was. Frieza's theme is two notes with a particular synth sound.... I usually assume Mike, but honestly I'm not 100% sure. This is another one that predates me. My money is on Mike.
