I think several of Faulconer's tracks were named retroactively. It was pretty clear when the in-house dub started that the music was being made and placed largely at random and certain tracks eventually settled on specific situations. The music that they ultimately used for the "Episode is ending" moments (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pN87YVgP6es) originally appeared at various moments during the Ginyu episodes.TheGmGoken wrote:Why is it called time chamber btw? Especially the portion that is the music used when Goku buries Vegeta. It had no business being in the show, but for Faulconer, it was a pretty good piece.
Yup this is one of those retroactive cases...and honestly I can't remember what the original was for or what it was named for ^^. I do know that "Time Chamber" existed already when I first got hired. I believe it was written for a scene in the Ginyu Saga.
Also the earlier pieces were mostly written to picture. There was no library to draw from at first...and once there were about 6 or so episodes of straight music they started doing editing. I came in just after that process got started. #68 was the first Faulconer episode. I think they were editing by about #74 or so. My first show was #78, and all I did was edit. If I couldn't make a scene happen with stuff from the old 20 minute blobs of music, I'd ask Mike for something new. Eventually I started making sure we saved off individual pieces of music as we recorded them. It made it easier to find them later instead of having to search through a 20 minute track =P This is why a lot of older tracks never got released.... The CDs were made from the smaller music files we saved off as we went. The older pieces from the first 15 or so episodes were never saved off individually from the final show's music score, which essentially was one long piece of music.
It's also more confusing because we didn't always do the shows in order...My first episode was #78, but I'm pretty sure my second was #81
