Let's Appreciate Sumitomo's Score

Post by Black_Liger » Mon Oct 12, 2015 11:03 pm

Inspired by the let's appreciate faulconer thread. Here you can appreciate and praise Sumitomo's score as much as you like.

For Starters, What I liked about the guy is that he finally brought a GRANDIOSE feeling to the Dragon Ball music. Specially his Choir pieces (That fits Dragon ball as of now, because the fights have gone from martial art battle into outer space god battles) His melodica stuff is also sweet for me since I like the sound of the melodica. I would wished he used orchestra more often than synth tracks though.
There's room for only one snake, and one big boss.

Best theme he's made:

Other good themes:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQCL0odju7M
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2VzfOZDCS8

Those are the only themes of his I can even think of--his OST is incredibly bland. I give Kikuchi flak, but so many of his themes are instantly recognizable and memorable. =P
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

A bgm track from Super sounds like a slow version of Sesame Street.

Just the chord pattern is similar, not the melody itself. That's fairly common. Like the tipical rock and roll pattern.

I know it's cheap as hell, but I absolutely love:

This may seem like cheating but I'd put his Resurrection F score as whole as his best work. It just great from top to bottom.

This one is just amazing. Pure Dragon Ball. I could see this theme in any of the Tenkaichi Budokai fights from the first half of the manga.
