Incredible!! I can't wait for part 2!
BTW, Thanos6, there's no definite source for the unreleased pieces' M-numbers. It's speculation. However, it's pretty accurate anyway, since the BGM compositions in the movies tend to have M-numbers that correspond to their placing in the film sequence. There's an occasional oddity though, since there can be one released theme, and you can count down to the next released theme in the movie, and the M-number will be about one or two digits ahead of where it should be. And in probably each one of the movies, the M-numbers skip ahead one, where the Cha-La opening sequence was - suggesting that even the opening credits have their own M-number, despite the fact that they use the same recording of Cha-La every time.

BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

The M-numbers (which are used by anime BGM composers to "catalogue" their work, probably for easy reference for whoever decides which piece should play in which scene in the TV series) come from the liner notes that come with the CD sets. You look through the booklet, and it'll tell you the numbers for each little composition. It's kind of like a substitute for naming each piece, except names are typically so much easier to remember than numbers.
Also, not all the CD booklets give away this information (in fact, it's only the 5-disc set and the BGM Collection that do so).

On the Japanese Laserdisc releases, there is a very useful audio track. The digital sound track (44kHz PCM) has only BGMs on its right channel. That means, you can take any unreleased BGMs from that, but you have to edit the volumes of those musics because the volume gets lower when a character speaks.kenisu3000 wrote:This could be a huge breakthrough. How did you get these?
I've already got the movie 1, 3, 4, and 6.
I really want to get them all but they're very rare now.
That's pretty neat, hopefully someday we'll see .mp3 rips...kei17 wrote:I've already got the movie 1, 3, 4, and 6.

*Snip*
Anyway, I have recently found out that the French DBZ maniac Genki (genkidbz@wanadoo.fr) is selling all of his Dragonball collection, which happens to include all of the DBZ Laser Disc releases and the Tenth Anniversary one as well:
You can view more of collection here, but I'd really suggest shooting him an e-mail regarding buying the rest of the Laser Disc releases, kei17.

kenisu3000 is actually in the process of working on a guide for all three series and the movies, documenting what BGM was released (and where) and what was not. It's some pretty amazing work, check it out:Snail wrote:Great stuff! Up until recently, I've never really paid much attention to the Japanese bgm releases. What exactly hasn't been released from the entire series' compilation of films and episodes?

Oh geez, somebody snatch those puppies up quick!!! I'm afraid I don't have any money, but if we can get isolated BGM tracks from those laserdiscs, that will count for an ENORMOUS CHUNK (in fact, almost ALL) of the BGM in Z (excluding the unreleased DragonBall pieces and some of the TV stuff, but that's VERY miniscule)!!!SSj_Rambo wrote:Anyway, I have recently found out that the French DBZ maniac Genki (genkidbz@wanadoo.fr) is selling all of his Dragonball collection, which happens to include all of the DBZ Laser Disc releases and the Tenth Anniversary one as well:

Yes, I'm sure he does; he even had an accounthere that he used for a brief while (his avatar is badass).Snail wrote:The kind sir does reply to english emails right?Ssj_Rambo wrote:Anyway, I have recently found out that the French DBZ maniac Genki (genkidbz@wanadoo.fr) is selling all of his Dragonball collection,
The guy truly is amazing, he's the one responsible for the French fan-sub of the Televikko footage, the French DBAF (Toyble's) translations, and is the guys behing the famous Golden Oozaru in Budokai 3 rumor (read about it in the middle of this page).
He did first announce that he was selling these Laser Discs a while ago, so I can't gurantee that he still has them in stock, but don't hesitate to ask; he's a pretty nice guy!
By the way, if it comes to this, I would be willing to help someone pay for these, in return for .mp3 rips of the BGM and copies of the special fetaures included in each. ^_^
