Yeah, FUNi's tapes post KidMark episodes were uncut only.

Nice little episode. I'm looking forward to the next Manga Review of Awesomness.

The father got a point.

Sure we get the uncensored versions of almost everything, but sometimes there are who don't want the unedited version. They want a censored version to share with others who are not old enough or not getting marked as perverts  .

Like what I did to Elfen Lied.

I did a censored version of the show where I only edited the nudity to allow everyone who couldn't watch it before due to it.

And check out the responces I've recieved:
HOORAY FOR CENSORED!! Yeah seriously I started watching it uncensored and I was getting really bothered with so much nudeity I mean DANG! DOES IT EVER END!! So I bet this the first time your hearing someone thanking you for uploading this but, thank you :D
Thank you so much! i really wanted to show my brothers elfen lied, but there was too much nudity....
now i can!!! THANKS!
Of course... the first responce I've got was:
this is dumb censored
And this was my reply:
I won't force you to like it, but...

I am targeting my channel to the audience who want to watch it nudity-censored.

You want to watch the unedited version? Go a head, but don't complain about something that is NOT meant for you.
I Kinda like what Viz is doing with the Chapter book.

And also, I agree with what Viz is doing by making a version for children.

With the Chapter Books, you can introduce Dragon Ball to children without worrying about Goku's peepee, and it teachs them how to read . And when they are old enough, They can get introduced to the manga, and then the anime.

If the unedited version was good enough for Japanese kids, it's good enough for North American kids. :p

Kai disagrees with you there, Mr. Penguintruth.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Well, not all kids are the same. If this guy thinks it's not appropriate for his own kids, I'd assume (and hope) that he has a good guage on what his children are and aren't ready for. It's not like he's trying to get the uncensored versions publicly banned or anything (or at least I gather from Mike's summary, still can't listen to the podcast *grumble* *grumble*).

I don't really see why people get so bent out of shape over non-pornographic nudity

Piccolo blew up the moon...!

About showing Dragon Ball to young kids... I think I wouldn't care if they saw it uncensored. I think it's stupid to raise kids to be the kind of people who'd think Dragon Ball is porn. I know I saw WAY worse than Dragon Ball when I was a kid (violence and bad language wise). I never really saw nudity other than my own self, but when I finally did (in a pool changing room), it was kind of traumatizing. It really did bother me. Luckily I'm fine with nudity now (and luckily I didn't develop some kind of hilarious fear of naked people  ), but raising children to think nudity is evil or something is ridiculous.

Apparently Japanese kids fear nudity and giant holes in someone's body as much as American kids now. Does that mean the original Dragonball is FOR MATURE ADULTS SUCH AS MYSELF!?

What the...?
a Mafuba is seen in the skies over Norway,
Is this from the AF "news scan" from Argentina?

Edit: Oh, I see what you did there as those pictures in this thread indeed look like a mafuba.

It's remnants of the strong Christian values that were prevalent through the years of the formation of modern American tradition and beliefs. I'd say that slowly but surely those archaic "values" are dying off but it seems to be happening in a very backwards and contradicting way. That's my opinion.

On that note, I have been in the same boat as this guy. I want to share Dragon Ball with my very young brothers, but my dad and grandparents would definitely not approve of teeny weeny Goku kicking fish and swimming from sharks all nudey and whatnot. Also all that stuff with Bulma. I bought the two volumes of the early '95 dub of Dragon Ball and have been seriously considering picking up the old pioneer Dragon Ball Z release. I've also been buying old volumes of the 4kids One Piece for them. They love them.

I also let them play some of my DBZ games. They are really fascinated with Piccolo and Trunks. And they love the "golden hair guys."

I would absolutely show children DB/Z as it is, uncensored, with subtitles.

For the nudity, children are nude all the time. This insecurity we've had in the past decade because of fear of child pornography and pedophiles is understandable, but has gone too far.

The violence is a bit more tricky, but you have to ensure your children know the difference between fantasy and reality.

But I realize this is me being an armchair parent. I don't have any children, so perhaps it's just too easy for me to criticize.

I agree with you but, how many kids do you think would actually want to watch it with subtitles?
