Episode #0305! VegettoEX and Hujio cover Tadayoshi Yamamuro. Minoru Maeda and Katsuyoshi Nakatusuru may have carried the franchise's animation a long way, but it has been Yamamuro that not only brought it into its final stretch, but carried its torch onward through the second wave. Where did Yamamuro come from, and how did he make his way through the ranks of other talented artists and animators? Our live audience also helps us answer what everyone's favorite go-to episodes of the series are to chill out and relax without a huge commitment! Referenced sites:

I really loved Yamamuro's work on Dragon Ball Z. The characters really did just look so damn manly. His second episode as an animation supervisor, episode #127, was gorgeous. I suppose he did the Super Saiyan transformation scene at the end?

Also, on the subject of Shindou Mitsuo, Shindou's recently returned to animation as a key animator for One Piece and a few other current Toei series'. Nakatsuru Katsuyoshi is also working on One Piece as a key animator.

EDIT: Yamamuro was only an animation supervisor for Toriko for episodes #3 and #9. He did key animation for those episodes and #5 and #7, too.

Hey, just out of curiosity, when is the next GT review of awesomeness coming up?

Jeff has major announcements to make, and also happens to be the director of publications for Otakon (which is this coming weekend). It's been his crash time of year, and we just haven't been able to catch up for more than an hour or so every couple weeks. I'm hoping to pin him down (literally, if I need to!) sometime next month to get back on course.

And now back to your regularly-scheduled animator discussion :).

Hi,
Do you guys ever think doing a podcast topic about Shunsuke Kikuchi and Akihito Tokunaga?

Great podcast! Thanks!

For episodes that I watch on a whim I usually watch the Goku vs Freeza fight. It just has so many great moments like the death of Vegeta, the 20X Kaioken and the scene where Goku finally defeats Freeza.
