She's better in movie 3:

Sounds more authentic than Naldony, in my opinion (DERP).

That's the problem. Goku was 13 at that time.

At least you didn't use "superior" or "dosen't sound like a dying animal".

The voice perhaps, but her acting seems really weak... In a literal sense. It sounds like she is afraid to raise her voice at all.

There have been plenty of kids who still sounded like kids at 13. Goku didn't even start to look like something other than a 12-year-old until the 23rd Budoukai.

I agree, but I'm of the opinion that a quiet voice is better than constantly yelling (that has more to do with the direction though). Personally, I think both are effective voices.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
True, but a 13 year old wouldn't sound anything like that Goku. Nadolny's Goku sounds more age appropriate.

In my opinion, Delgadillo's Gokû sounds too... peaceful, I guess. It doesn't sound like a fighter, but more like a young kid who doesn't like fighting.

As a high school Geography teacher, I can agree to the fact that boys, around 13, mostly still have a unbroken voice. Seriously, I swear about half the boys in my class don't look a day over 10 or 11. Girls are the opposite though...

Wait, why am I talking about this?

I still prefer Nadolny, though.

I much prefer Nadolny's Goku. Don't get me wrong, I cannot stand her Gohan and am incredibly happy that she's not coming back for him, but for a character like Goku she really shines. I'm still a much bigger fan of Nozawa, though.

The reason I really enjoy her Nadolny is that, it's happy, it has a lot of energy, it's naive, and it's not as scratchy and annoying as the voice she uses for Gohan. It is, in my opinion, one of the most appropriate English voices little Goku has gotten. Though, Brianne Siddall is also a great choice, but we only got to hear her for Final Bout.

Delgadillo's Goku may sound age appropriate, but there's no energy. It's incredibly refrained and breathy.

Not to my experience, but I just generally enjoy Nadolny's Goku better than the other no matter what the case is. I remember because I voted for Nadolny during casting for Dragonball.

I guess I'm in the minority about it then, because Naldony makes me want to punch Goku (and Gohan) in the brain. It sounds so unnatural.

Well, I would have to agree with that statement. Though I prefer her Goku to her Gohan, neither of them do anything for me. Nozawa wins in the Goku/Gohan department.

They can sound off if they want, but I know plenty of folks who share your general feelings on the casting of Goku and Gohan. You are far from alone. Not that we all actually want to sit and punch people ('cuz that would be ridiculous), but ya' know.

I've never hidden my feelings on the matter, that's for sure. Pretty sure I most recently mentioned it in the review of Revenge of King Piccolo, since the darn thing STARTS with that voice interpretation shouting out to the player.

At least you didn't say "is more authentic" like you did before. The in my opinion disclaimer wasn't necessary this time because we could already tell so good job!

I'm not talking about punching the VA. I'm talking about punching the character.

I think Goku could take it. :P

(Then he'd sodomize me with the Nyio-bo like a certain ninja.)

Good thing, because then you'd be an unforgivable person for striking a woman.

Unless you're a woman then it'd be no problem.

Still, Not liking Delgadillo's Goku is one of the probs I have with DB movie 3's dub. It made the Gatchans talk! They're not supposed to talk. At least they and Arale are more to their characters during the crossover in DB.

Waaay back when they first announced that they were dubbing DB and putting it on Toonami. There were polls to see who would be the cast based on voice samples. I think Mike might have the samples still.
