I use it all the time. Especially the context. The word "nigga" "nigger" the whole word is offense to begin with, so even if I said "nig" shorten for "nigger" or whatever. Then yeah, that would be offensive. Because the whole term is offensive. Is the term "Japanese" offensive, no? On that note, the war is over by now, right? Even in his context he was referring to Dragonball Kai, not even a real person so to speak. I have no idea how could that be offensive, in his context.
Are you serious? There all acceptable. Are you seriously going to dictate to people what abbreviations should be acceptable and ones should be not? Isn't that getting a little insane here? Also did you even read what I said. The context he used it in was not even close to being racist.
Also I'm very aware of the term. And I studied the use of the term before. On the internet and across Google.
Anyways, there is a difference between an abbreviation and a person out right calling someone on this forum that is "Japanese" "Shut up you stupid Jap." Now if that happen, yeah, you are right. It becomes racist.
And also I've seen people called all sorts of names on this forum. Yet, that's okay. But it seems to me, some people are overly protective of Japanese culture. There is a term for that. One that refers to a person that is obsessed with Japanese culture. I think this maybe a case of people just stating that because it's reverse racism and they want to look cool pointing this out. Honoring DBZ! Because it's Japanese! Caring more about Japanese culture more than you would care about American culture because of Dragonball. So honor the Japanese culture to up to an obsessive point nit picking at abbreviations!?
I mean there was like 4 people complaining about it. And when I said something only about "context" and an "comparison". You just immediately jumped in to state what the other person already stated, and even ignoring what I was getting at. I'm not denying it can be offensive term. I'm just saying that his comparison was not the same and the context was not even close to being racist.
Maybe I'm making a big deal about this myself but when people tend to just repeat something (like I didn't know what "Jap" could possibly be offensive such as it being used as a racism term) and ignore what I stated, it kind of rubs me the wrong way sort of.
