Re: Dragon Ball Kai Blu-Ray Boxes And DVD Volumes Updates!
The listing on Happinet's official release website has finally been updated with the upcoming Kai Blu-ray and DVD releases. You can read more about it here on Kanzentai.
Here's the part I think people might be most interested, at least for discussion purposes.

So, yay or nay? I guess for me it's nice that my prediction turned out to be pretty close, and maybe now people will stop spouting off about the series being only 99 episodes. The episode count has also been updated from the "planned" 99 episodes down to a solid 98 episodes. However, with episodes 55-98 being released under the "Artificial Humans and Cell arc" title, I think we can infer that the Majin Buu arc will begin with episode 99. This indicateds that the series, which was originally rumored to only have around 100 episodes, will indeed be going much farther past that mark. A rough estimate would now put the series at somewhere around 140-150 episodes.
We'll get to it when we get to it. We still have to finish up the last one with Furukawa Toshio.Goku100xKamehameha wrote:Interview with Ryo Horikawa! Kanzentai better translate this fast!

Furukawa? Oh man, I can't wait.
But yeah, it's nice to have this officially confirmed. I guess Toei was able to figure out what each episode will cover ahead of time. Then again, without having to worry about a weekly comic they can probably schedule months upon months ahead, with the animation pretty much done...

Is Funimation going the same line ? I mean would DBZ Kai Part 4 (40-52) contain 2 more Episodes (40-54) to complete the Saiyan & Freeza Saga ? Interesting question, huh???
And I say again ... DB Kai will end with Episode 147!

The word "KAI" means in the old North Germanic language Frisian "Kämpfer engl. Fighter" respectively "Krieger engl. Warrior"!

Makes sense, considering the pacing has been given much more room as of late. Still a shame they rushed the Saiyan arc as much as they did, even cutting out canon material, but they hit their stride during the Namek arc, which needed the most cutting.

That image of Gohan is originally showed on one of Jump's magazine but now it's redrawn with the same pose and that back-to-back thing Vegeta and Trunks did, makes me remember the Tekken girls poses on the Tekken's movie poster

Good to see that the artwork has improved and also good to see the series not being rushed, and spread out to 140 episdoes. 99 episodes was a little short.

I kinda hate the SSJ hair colors, I prefer it's more orange.
Re: Dragon Ball Kai Blu-Ray Boxes And DVD Volumes Updates!
The pacing throughout the Namek arc felt about as brisk as the Saiyan arc, until Goku fought Freeza. Then for some reason they decided to be less merciless than they really should have. It's odd considering such the infamous reputation that battle has, they really could of took the hack saw to that fight. Don't get me wrong, the Kai version of the battle is still WAY better as it is, but they still could of totally transformed that fight into something really different from Z's version.Metalwario64 wrote: Still a shame they rushed the Saiyan arc as much as they did, even cutting out canon material, but they hit their stride during the Namek arc, which needed the most cutting.
Speaking of cutting the manga material, have they actually stopped doing that completely? I don't really study my manga when I watch Kai so I wouldn't know, can anyone confirm?

Here are the cover arts of the first bluray boxset and dvd volume of the Artificial Humans/Cell Arc from Japanese Amazon. I really like the orange color scheme. Wonder what color they'll use the Boo arc

When you do, please post the disc covers. There will be four in all. Future Trunks will definitely get one. 17 and 18 will probably share one like in the dragonbox. Maybe Mecha Freeza.
