I'm very happy that they have a full version of the Vic Mignogna version of the song. Only problem is... I can practically tell where they cut it. The transition from "Go! Go! Free your soul" into "Mysteries unbound" has a difference in audio, as if spliced together. The verse's vocals are lower or... I don't know, it just feels like I can hear that it was put together.

Chris Sabat should sing, but then it would sound like Piccolo or Vegeta singing it. I hate Sabat's performance as Vegeta and Piccolo in Kai. They sound exactly the freaking same!

The same? What anime have you been watching? Piccolo has gone much closer to Sabat's natural voice, while his Vegeta is very clearly much more gruff, though not as much as has been in the past (which is a good thing).

But yeah, Sabat could sing in a variety of ways.

Pretty sure 4kids owns it, last time I checked. Although it seems to be off of their website so maybe the license is back up in the air.

4kids lost it a long time ago. Apparently, they didn't like what they saw in the dub and yanked the license. Makes you wonder why they didn't do that sooner for One Piece.

Yep. I used a device on shadowlink4321's fandub and I heard Justin's backup vocals.

They should have just had Tanimoto Takayoshi from the very beginning.

Tanimoto couldn't do an English Dragon Soul, with the main reason because of back up vocals being in Japanese and people (might?) ask, "What are those back up singers singing?"

I disagree, if I had a company and had the rights to a full instrumental of Dragon Soul, I would not waste them. If FUNimation didn't do a dub of this song, I would believe they were uncreative and lazy.

Not only are they doing one dub, but a different one every release! :D

Why is it lazy simply to leave the music as is?

Let's see, putting in the effort to adapt a song, get a singer, pull the song together, and do a new one every 13 episodes vs just leaving a song alone? One of those is hard work, and another is a bit lazy. At bare minimum, I expect at least one dubbed version of each song. It lets Funi stand out from Viz, who leaves songs in Japanese, and 4Kids, who makes up random new songs.

So now simply leaving something alone is 'lazy'?

A band could show up to a concert just to put a CD in, leaving it alone. Would it sound fine? Yes. But, lazy.

Besides, Funi's dubbing of openings is something that sets them apart from other dubbing companies.

I think it comes across that way when earlier within the same show they were dubbing songs. It's inconsistent and takes you out of the experience when these things don't match up. To me it's not finishing what you started. Either you dub all of the songs or you dub none of the songs, don't have this weird mishmash of languages when in the original it was all consistently in one language.
