Toriko Takes DBK's Slot On April 3 (Kai Ends with Cell)

Post by JulieYBM » Tue Dec 14, 2010 11:17 pm

According to our friends at Anime News Network...Toriko's anime (from Toei, no less) shall be taking the 9AM Sunday slot right before One Piece.

Well, son of a pickle-pogostick.

Well this confirms that Kai will end after the Cell Games.

Not necessarily, but it definitely implies as much. We'll have to wait for a final confirmation from Toei, as the series could simply be taking a break.

It's possible, but your right let's wait for Toei to confirm its end before everyone starts to jump to conclusions.

Last time I checked, the Buu saga wasn't filler. :|

One Piece is airing 12/26, so I have to assume Dragon Ball Kai will too. There are thirteen remaining Sundays remaining between now and the first Sunday of April. I know Heath's been pretty confident no episodes will air 1/2. Thirteen episodes remain of the arc, too. We might see an hour long finalé for the series...

I mentioned this on Twitter, but didn't we also assume the series would end after the Freeza arc because of Digimon coming back?

What?...

With Boo they'd be on the home-stretch... why not just finish the series and be done with it?...

This wouldn't surprise me, but as I've been saying in the chat room, I'll believe it when the source is something more concrete than a deleted image. The Jump issue in question is formally released on 12/20, so we should know for certain by this time next week.

Geez, I sincerely hope this really is just a rumor and that Kai's not getting the axe. They've already gotten 2/3 of the series finished, and a cut-down version of the Majin Boo arc would definitely be even shorter than either Freeza or Cell. It'd be such a waste to end it prematurely. Not to mention we wouldn't get to see that last part get FUNi's fantastic new treatment.

There are a few things that don't make much sense to me here. First off, Why would they cancel the show? Especially when they're coming so close to completion?! Why not just finish it?!

Also, One Piece got a time-slot change a while back from Saturday Nights to Sunday Mornings. I'm sure another show took it's old time-slot. We have no confirmation that Dragon Ball Kai is getting the axe right now, it might just be getting a time-slot change and Toriko is the series designated to take over. Maybe they know Dragon Ball can stand on its own, so they want to put Toriko with One Piece so OP can help it get started?

Would make sense.

I thought Dragon Ball Kai might move to prime time too, however...from what I remember reading from Greg Werner Fuji TV doesn't place anime in the prime time anymore. We already know that Kai's not had a very large budget if they cannot afford Mitsuya Yûji.

Then again, maybe Kai's just moving to another day?

Maybe it's just taking a hiatus.

But with the age of those VAs, they should record before it's too late.

That thing is WAY too small for me to read any of the finer details.

So it say absolutely NOTHING about Kai?!

How is this?

Still, it says Sunday at 9AM. Kanzentai will have their news article up soon.

Well, that image looks pretty not-deleted. Toriko is definitely getting its timeslot, but I don't see any definite confirmation that Kai is canceled.

But I doubt Kai will get another timeslot. With all that we've heard about the production, I think it's safe to assume this could be the end.

I'm not sure if it is worth it...but have any of you fine Japanese-speaking fellers or fellets considering shooting Toei (Japan) an email about the situation? Or should we just assume official confirmation will come soon enough?

Kai can't be THAT un-profitable can it?! They're so incredibly close to the end now, it's not even funny...

I will write them... just as soon as I can find an actual E-mail we know they check...

Considering all of the Dragon Ball stuff out there, I doubt they'd end it prior to the Boo saga. Especially when you have video games still being released containing older Gohan, Goten, Kid Trunks, Majin Boo (plus his forms) and the Super Saiyan 3 form.

It's likely they're just gonna move it to another date or time.
