What??.
When?
shadowmaria wrote:Can I just kindly put a request that people stop complaining about Eric Vale's voice for Trunks. It's been like 14 years since he recorded the end of GT.

Of course age (and taking up smoking) are going to affect what his vocal chords sound like. Just be glad he reprised the role ffs
Why? If his voice is now destroyed to the point it's no longer fitting*, why should one be glad he's returned just because of being the original voice actor?
I'd rather it got replaced much like how James Earl Jones clearly can't voice Darth Vader anymore as Rogue One demonstrated.

*It should be said that I don't watch the funimation dub of Super, so I don't know if the difference is as bad, as people here are talking about.

Xenoverse 2's DLC shows off more of Zamasu's voice, I think it's getting better; Marster's especially does well at the funny lines.

Vale's Trunks' now is easily above and beyond his Kai and Z imo.

Anyway doesn't Grand Priest make his debut soon too? Wonder how they'll TL the name and of course who'll voice him.

Then Rosé and then we should be settled.

Grand Attendant might do? I doubt they’ll go with Priest. Then again... Angel, God, Hell. Maybe Grand Priest is here to stay?

Grand Priest is 55 from memory, right before they go to the future. By my calculations, 56 will air the weekend before Easter, and Easter will probably be the first break of the year

People are complaining that he's raspier now than he was nearly 20 years ago, and it's 'ruining the experience' and 'ruined Trunks' voice'

I hadn't really noticed the difference until I went back and listened to his earlier VA work as Trunks... I actually kinda prefer it the way it is now. But I also prefer frieza's new voice over the old one as well.

All I have to say is I hope they try harder with Jiren for the dub anime, because his voice and dialog for XV2 is ridiculous, and not in a good way. Black and Hit's are pretty dumb for XV2 as well and they've done them justice in the anime so here's hoping... We're still probably over a year away before we even see Jiren in the dub, so there's plenty of time to get it right.

Heard some of Zamasu's new dialougue from the new Xenoverse 2 DLC and his actor has greatly improved. Got me hyped for this weekend's episode.

Well, with Frieza, the way you bring his voice actors up, it's not the same with comparing his voices to Trunks' or Black's, same with Hit's. That's comparing 2 different voice actors' takes on the characters while Trunks & Black are just 2 different performances at different times. Both have their similar ways of being judged, but also distinct ways too.

Keep in mind that the next episode is probably the first material Marsters recorded post-XV2, so his performance isn't going to be as refined as it was in the DLC yet.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

I noticed they got Aaron Roberts back for Hit's new lines in Xenoverse 2, which makes sense for consistency's sake*. However, I also heard new lines for Freeza and it sounds like Chris Ayres! (here: https://youtu.be/WvaJct1ZtDU?t=1m22s) He sounds slightly off, understandably given the circumstances, but it's encouraging nonetheless.

I could've sworn it was Daman Mills, but then again, it could've been the terrible audio mixing during the PQs.

I agree Jiren sounds way too much like a proper good guy here but that's not FUNi's fault I don't think as they're only using what line's they're given hence why the use "God of Destruction" and not "Destoyer" for XV2 for example.

I definitely agree about Vale his acting isn't great in the older Z dub imo.

Oh man..that IS Chris! I hope he is well enough to voice at least some stuff for the anime. I know he is still awaiting lung transplant, so I doubt he can do much screaming. It's kinda making me emotional to hear him again after all he has been through.

Realistically, what they could do is loop in some of his older screams from Kai, Res F, & Super to fit. Either that, or get Daman Mills to do them. It happens all the time in voice acting if an actor is incapable of doing something for whatever reason, they just get a voice double, which is why you'd assume they have Daman on standby.

Just watched a clip of Future Trunks vs Goku Black and good god, is Vale's rasp as bothersome as ever. The acting is fine though. Clinkenbeard is a great Future Mai and like I said before, Schemmel sounds a lot more tolerable as Goku Black.

https://youtu.be/ntOugZdRxjI?t=53m56s Schemmel gave Rose Goku Black a rasp in the new XV2 content, just like what he initially did for base Goku Black in the game?

In that same dialogue, Zamasu is also a ton better. Marsters must've really grasped the character through recording the anime's dub. As for Sean, I wonder if he was given the right directional notes of which variant of Black it was that he recorded for. Given the still rocky direction they had for recording the dub, it's obvious they're still not given the cutscenes to record the dub of the game, so I wonder if the script didn't directly say "Rose Goku Black" like it should've.

Hmm. Marsters is doing a good job at the more soft-spoken dialogue so far. As I thought he would.
Kinda weird how they pronounce "Zamasu" & "Gowasu" though.
