Dragon Ball Super related Merchandise and Figures (OP NO MORE UPDATES TO THE OP NOW DEAD)

Kind of wish they made the Base Goku with the Kamehameha effect piece UI Omen based off his Kamehameha against Kefla. But I guess they're going for a Z aesthetic with the other figures in the line (Teen Gohan, Android Saga Vegeta, etc.)

Gotta admit, that Goku with an effect piece looks pretty good. The GT Goku is also good but that pose wasn't that well thought, looks...awkward to see the least, especially having him looking upwards instead of downwards as the promo shots had.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, it's still in prototype stage, same thing happened with FES UI Goku the intial fair protoype was different to final version:

Basically if you see the golden base it means protoype and regular black bases means either 2nd stage protoype or final version ready for mass production.

Yeah the Materia Goku is easily the best thing shown off (well what we're allowed to see) it also has the black base yet comes out it September and it's ready to be shown off more than July's BoS Gogeta and August Tag Fighters & Heroes WCF... that just totally bemuses me. Worst thing about it is we're now gonna be subjected to Banpresto terrible production images for them....

Materia Goku is separate from the new "DBS" line and is actually Z branded. Again more WTF ARE YOU DOING BANPRESTO questions there.

If they wanna celebrate Z's anniversary then fine, but for the love of god don't do a Bandai and use the DBS branding FFS. I mean they could have keep Gotenks and Piccolo* then made Vegetto Blue. But then give us a much needed Adult Gohan and then SSGSS KK Goku and Evolution Vegeta and sorted.

The Goku and Vegeta opening the line are not going to do well on the aftermarket as they are in SS they may get high case orders intially but watch the following volumes of this line go down in case orders.

*August's Match Makers MaJunoir actually had good number case orders however the figure didn't do so hot on the after market (recently picked onr up for ¥777!!) means future orders for Piccolo might not be so high. So need to watch the space for next month's BWFC and then September one with Gohan. If both are low then I think we can kiss seeing Piccolo commercialised for a while. I am conflicted though I want Cell arc Gohan in Sept to do bad to show Banpresto they need to change their game but as a result Piccolo may also suffer /;

That's all I want. Like I get they love doing SS2 figures for him but come on... I don't even care if it's a Goku body swap at this point just give me Ultimate Gohan merch that isn't WCF, Shodo or gashapon figures. That said, it is nice to see another regular Super Saiyan figure so I'll be getting that one.

Oh crap in the midst of it all I forgot to complain about the fact #18 again missed op for tracksuit #18. Eurgh. I just am losing will at the moment.

Also to make things worse. One Piece movie schedule is out and they are getting I think ~18 regular prize figures (7 DXF volumes, 1 G&G, 1KOA & 1FSD think most of these sets of 2).... we only got 8 for Broly.... (not counting the special moves Gogeta since they were exclusive). They only have WCF each month like we did and not double a month like their last film thankfuĺly otherwise I'd feel worse! But it looked like we were catching up to OP but nope they've gone ahead again. Sigh.

Bandai you may aswell complete the misery next week!

Loving the Vegito Xeno and the SSJ4 Bardock, i'm actually impressed at SSJ4 Bardock getting actual merch despite not having any relevance plot-wise (unlike Fu, Cumber or Vegito Xeno) so I'm guessing he's still popular.

BoS Gogeta looks great but not gonna lie, I wish the line had more pose variety, is kinda lame that every figure is doing the exact same pose.

An over expensive HG figure that looked like a bootleg yes and then a UDM (and a special colour UDM w/ less detail!)

As for Gohan since it is planned it doesn't matter if you buy it or not. But the reason why Banpresto are doubling down on Cell arc Gohan is well back in 2016 with their RoS line SS2 Gohan was released before adult Future Gohan and unfortunately Future Gohan ended up getting half the amount of case orders than SS2 Gohan which at that point Banpresto presumably decided that any future Gohan commercialisation will be Cell arc one and not adult. Honestly our best chance for an adult Gohan is if someone picks him for the BWFC (they really need to bard entries for Goku tbh). Just gotta hope the figure gets mediocre case orders so Banpresto rethink but maybe at the cost of poor Piccolo though.

I was thinking more on the fact that SSJ4 Bardock got an Adverge, this WCF and even got one of those waffer stickers. That's more that I've seen any other Heroes based character get (that is not any of the three main Xenos of course)

Gogeta having red fur is bothering me. He should have either brown or deep red fur.

I wish I didn't know as much about this as I do, but Blue Evolution's hair is actually colored that way in a lot of merchandise art and even Yamamuro's production sheets.

I've seen it like that in the Dragon ball Heroes cards, but I always just figured it was a mistake... That's no fun, the dark blue is what makes it truly stand out.

Out of curiosity, Is there any analysis/ info out there regarding which characters's merchandise sells and so on?

Regarding Gohan, I think he might not look distinct enough as an adult to get attention from general and casual fans, so his stuff might get bought by his fans and not that's about it? Cell Games Gohan, though, was not just his most iconic look, but he garnered more popularity than any other DB charater has ever gotten ( here I mean vote numbers).
