And that you also have IMMENSELY skewed and comically backwards priorities in what you think is most important and needed to make a good Dragon Ball story.

DB will be #1 in all fields of both Bandai at Toei balance sheets by the end of the current fiscal year, and by a big margin, with record numbers. I actually didn't expect they would go up this year (after already huge increases in past 2 years) but here we are. Another 3 years of new DB anime (Super or different series) is 100% guaranteed.
The NPD Group just disclosed the November toys sales figures. The DRAGON BALL SUPER range, developed by BANDAI, ranks in the top 20 among action figurine sales during November*. Those results confirm the good performance of this toy range, since it has ranked in the top 20 since the launch last May*. Furthermore sales have kept on rocketing since the launch, showing thus an increasing interest for the brand, as well as the significant success of BANDAI’s communication plan (TV ad, retail tour animations,…). The 17cm Deluxe and the mini battle figurines top the sales of the range.

The only anime comparable to Pokemon outside Japan in Dragon Ball. Everything else (including Naruto, yes) is insect in comparison. This is an objective fact based on sales figures, gross revenue and ratings.
Toyotarō: … I get the feeling I’ve just heard something amazing (laughs). Lord Beerus and Whis turn up in Dragon Ball Super, and have become an unsurpassable wall for Goku and the gang. What do the two of them mean to you?
Toriyama: Well… First off, right now I don’t have any plans for Goku and Vegeta to surpass Beerus and Whis.
WOW! Now I REALLY REALLYREALLY want to know how the toyline did in the USA! I doubt it did very well since children couldnt quite see DBS but still!

It's ill-fitting for me. Dragon Ball is not a bedtime story. And "laid-back old man" is not how I would describe Yanami's narrator. To me he sounds like the kind of uncle that shows up to the birthday party with loads of fruit punch soda and stuffs himself with pizza and ice cream, or takes you out on his boat at the lake in the summer and goes skinny dipping or something.
19 years ago I was rushing home from school to watch DBZ on Cartoon Network, and today I've rushed home from work to watch DBS on Pop. I guess it's true the more things change the more they stay the same.
Premium Bandai are doing a second shipment for this set this month, originally came out in September but it was so popular they're doing another shipment, usually when these premiums come out that's it. The set goes for
¥6,480, in other words holy crap that's a lotta money.
Dragon Ball continues to make a hell of a lot of money:
