Define DB community. Are you talking about the internet, which makes up a small percentage of people that actually consume DB, or the elitists like YouTubers/Twitters that only comprise an even smaller percentage of people (I wouldn't even give it 5% tbh) that consume DB in general?
The echo chamber effect of the internet makes it really easy to lose sight of this and it applies equally to both the anime and the manga, I think. The online fandom is constantly at each others' throats with their anime vs manga war but both versions of the series continue to do very well for themselves.
It's kinda like Broly. The hard core fandom really despised him to the point it was hard to even talk about him before Toriyama's stamp of approval made it socially acceptable to like him again, but he was constantly showing up in video games and the like because evidently he's quite popular and a lot of people like him despite his flaws.
I dont get how you think that the db community that is vocal online isn’t a huge portion of the overall community or fandom. Because the way we’re using community, it’s basically the same as saying the db fandom. With how large of a portion the internet is in peoples’ lives, i dont get how you can think the db fans on twitter, reddit, kanzenshuu, other forums, and the comments of youtube videos that get tons of views DON’T make up a big portion of our fandom.
If you’re a fan of something and live in the 21st century, its logical that you would be vocal about what you love on the internet. I’d say the db fandom online takes up a majority of the db fandom in all. You guys are HUGELY underestimating it.
Maybe its because most of yall only experience the online english side of the fandom when there are plenty of vocal online db fans that are apart of other sides of the world and therefore, don’t communicate with us. Like the French side of the fandom or South American side of the fandom. Or hell, even the japanese side. If we all spoke the same language, you’d be surprised as how much of the db fandom is online and vocal.
Just thinking the online db fandom is less than 5% is kinda ignorant, no offense.
