So... my fiance and I won a trip to see the dub premiere tomorrow night! We fly out tomorrow morning and we'll get back Friday evening. I would have posted about it earlier, but the last few days have been frantic with real life stuff and trying to get ready for this trip so I've only told friends and family so far. Still, we're really excited to go and I'll try to give my first impressions of the film and its dub once we get back home Friday!

I saw that on Twitter! I was tempted to try that little contest, but I don't really have anyone who would of wanted to do that with me XD. Happy for you both, please give us feedback on the experience! Cheers!

Why is Vegeta wearing his Buu arc outfit? I prefered the navy blue armor that he had in the concept art, and I don't want anything reminding me of the Buu arc.

I dont want anything reminding me of the Super anime so I guess we both lose. At least Bluer isnt in this movie.

That doesnt mean they shouldnt properly age them, instead of having them appear exactly the same as they did 7 years ago (in universe). Even worse considering we've had teenager designs for them before.

All I was trying to say that is that it isn't a big deal. There's more important things than them doing "research" about Goten and Trunks's age at the time. It sucks that it happened, and we obviously would prefer that this wasn't the case and they DID age, but if it is going to happen, it's better that it is for totally irrelevant characters than ones that actually play a role.

Soundtrack's pretty fantastic. "Bardock Falls" is just...wow. Last minute and a half gave me actual goosebumps.

I made a chronological supercut of all the available footage. At first I set it to Blizzard, which I think turned out well considering that I didn't have the freedom to move clips around to fit the music; it's all chronological. But I needed to correct a few errors, which included adding a few tiny things I missed, and I had already pushed Blizzard to its max (I even delayed the start of the song) so I was happy to get the Sumi soundtrack today and post a better version. I really, really wanted to use "Full-Force Kamehameha" for the final action (since that's how it's used in the movie) and "Freeza's Wish, Another 5cm" worked best to set it all up.

DBS: Broly In 5.5 Minutes - Sumitomo Version

I also got a HD version of one of the LQ TV spots we got earlier, so I replaced all that footage, and with a bit more breathing room, I was able to slow-mo a few things that I felt went by too fast in the Blizzard version.

Errata:
1. Naked Freeza - I'm not splicing a tiny bit of armored Freeza into the middle of the longer naked Freeza clip.
2. SSB Goku vs Broly CG fight - it's on the wrong background and hasn't been corrected in trailers.
3. Rage Broly vs Freeza - this should be SS Broly.

I'm impressed at how well things almost sync up with the music in that cut. It's almost like they released all the footage with that intent in mind but just...did it kinda badly.

I think it's amazing how much action can fit into just five minutes of footage. Makes me wonder how much more I'm missing visually by only reading the summary.

Which version? I was amazed at how well it lined up with Blizzard, but there were flaws in my footage so it wasn't too fortuitous. With the Sumi tracks, it was a bit easier to make it work - just had to lock Full-Force Kamehameha to the end and find the track that was closest to the gap at the beginning, and then tweak a few things to make it all fit. With Blizzard, I had way less freedom (though I didn't have much freedom with the Sumi version either).

Still not that much of a fan of the new origin. Especially since we lose Bardock's last stand and making it more explicit that Goku=Superman.
The fights look really, really good. That one scene of Vegeta taking off his jacket mid-bout with Broly was awesome.
The CG stuff is, well...bad. But hopefully there isn't too much of it here.

Yeah I guess we do both lose, then, I guess. I'm on the other side in both respects, I would have loved to see SSBE or "Bluer" in the movie. I think that among several other reasons is why we need an anime retelling. In Ajay's review of the movie, he said he would like to see an anime retelling, and I think that says a lot.
