I'd buy it if it was translated but who knows if it will be. They were translating the Naruto novels and then they just stopped.

You're right. Sooner or later, but I have no doubts. Especially that a lot of American live action movies are made in recent years.

Hopefully it salvages the mess this movie is going to end up as.

Why would a Light Novel that follows the same script the movie is using be better?
I called it that Gogeta, Bardock, and something Broly related would be in the movie before it was even announced that it was a Broly movie. 8)

Wild thought but what if they continue to have DBS Light Novels and it eventually becomes a reference that both the anime and manga follow? They do tend to get released between a 3 to 4 month time gap after the previous light novel but they’re filled with content.

Which still annoys me to no end. I mean, we did end up also getting the two Itachi novels and the Sasuke one, but...bah.

I don't know what the likelihood of Viz grabbing this novel is, but I know I'd buy it. Would definitely be interesting to see how fight scenes are handled in prose form in an official light novel too. There's been plenty of fan-fiction that does it well enough, but only time will tell if this turns out good too.

Hollywood these days has no originality nor any creativity and instead they just 'borrow' content from other countries. Hollywood flicks and series are still watchable but I gave up on most of it because of the forced politics they injected into it among other things.

They take the fun out of everything.

I even emailed them to ask about it and I got this in return.

Hopefully, the light novel will include the content that was cut out of the three hour script Toriyama came up with.

I can't say I'm surprised that you did, but considering that we have seen a grand total of maybe 1 minute of this movie, there's absolutely no way that you could know that this movie will be a mess.

I just hope this little novel has the other half of Toriyama's script.

I would support it assuming that the Light Novels don't suck.

That's a poor excuse. People have been judging movies from trailers and promotional material for decades now. That's how they decide whether or not the movie interests them. I've seen nothing that makes me think this will be a good movie. Obviously, I think, based on the trailers, interviews and modern Dragon Ball's track record, that this is going to be a mess; I'm not sure, obviously. I reworded it to avoid pedantic responses when the meaning should be clear.

As to why I hope this novel will salvage this film, it's because it's a novel. A light novel, yes, but a novel nonetheless. It will have more space to develop and flesh out what the movie might be missing. It is not unheard of or uncommon that the novel adaptation has more content than the movie itself.

Great so when this movie ends up being an incoherent mess of ideas the fans will counter you by saying "if you read the light novel it would all make sense" or "the light novel is much better."

Indeed very interesting. Let's see if my Japanese is enough to read it.

So, therefore it seems that we some different versions of the story.
- movie
- novel
- manga (expected to come after the ToP concluded)
- anime (possibility of a retelling??? )
