Did Super retcon the compass Kaioshins?

In DBZ we hear that there used to be four compass Kaioshins and a Grand Kaioshin. In Super we only ever see one Kaioshin as the God of Creation of a universe, standing opposite a God of Destruction, and sometimes an apprentice. Has Super retconned the five Kaioshins out of existence, and was Shin now one of four apprentice Kaioshins or an ordinary compass Kai (like Zamasu used to be) during Buu's original attack?

Yes, it did... unless the other 3 Kaioshin and Daikaioh from the other universes aren't invited to all the social events among the Gods because nobody like them.

Probably... but grand kaioshin is in the story of super so he isn't forgotten about. Maybe toyotaro and akira have an explanation - let's wait for next chapter.

Thats what i had figured. But now the manga is bringing back the Dai Kaioshin. So who actually knows how its all supposed to work. I suppose we'll find out

No, not really. It just seems Universe 7 is unique in that they have the cardinal direction Kaioshins, and they all happen to be dead. Or, the current "Grand" Kaioshin is the Kaioshin that is referred to as the Kaioshin of the other Universes. Our Kaioshin is "Grand" by default because the others are dead, but the others may just bring their top guy while the others exist.

It was quasi-retconned to imply Shin (and the 3 other directional Supreme Kai's) were just apprentices to the Grand Supreme Kai, similar to what Zamasu was to Gowasu.
