Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
No. Its average ticket price is slightly lower compared to F due to either premium formats(IMAX, 4DX) not doing well or it attracting slightly more kids compared to F. Or probably both. Hence, more tickets sold but less in revenue.
About Bohemia, I kind of exaggerated a bit. It isn't exponentially growing and attracting all age groups, but rather is extremely consistent which is still very rare in the market. Its sixth weekend gross is the more than its the first three weekends which is remarkable and ridiculous cause it very rarely happens. So, don't be surprised if Broli is behind it in the weekdays cause unlike Broli it doesn't drop much even in the weekdays.
Tomorrow should be on par with Tuesday. Its another dull day.

This will be slow going until Saturday. Nothing too interesting for this set of weekdays. December 22-25 will be interesting and then from the 29th.
Also yes apparently the movie was released on far fewer screens this time.
Resurrection F had 653 screens.

Broly has 467 screens.
https://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/in ... B01&p=.htm
Perhaps Resurrection F wasn't successful enough in relation to it's amount of screens which I remember was particularly high so maybe they dialed it down.

Don't forget that Resurrection 'F' was the first Japanese IMAX 3D film. And new film has no even 3D screenings, right?

Official numbers for the first 6 days.
11.6 million USD, 1.011 million tickets.
https://mobile.twitter.com/DB_super2015 ... 9231500289
So it's actually ahead of F in both tickets and money.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
So it did a better gross than Ressurrection F through 6 days with nearly 200 less screens...

Good find Arched.
So it's above estimates by 4%. It's made ¥1.3 billion in 6 days which instead puts it a tad above Resurrection F and it actually got to 1 million tickets a day earlier than that movie.
Thursday so far appears to be on par or slightly Tuesday.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
So the reason my estimates were a bit low appears to be because the average ticket price has actually been a good bit higher from Monday to Wednesday (¥1,333) than it was on the weekend (¥1,272).
Which would surely be because of a higher share of adults going to see the movie I suppose because it's a school day. Friday wasn't but its average ticket price wasnt that high either (¥1,284) but maybe that was because of opening day.
Going by the information received for Monday to Wednesday then I'd estimate that on Thursday it made about ¥66 million.
Altogether ¥1.36-1.37 billion ($12.2 million). Again Resurrection F did ¥1.357 billion in 7 days so Broly is ever so slightly Infront.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
The fact that's it only barely doing better than ROF is quite baffling.
Is the movie available in 4D?

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
It has 4DX. I have no idea of it has IMAX and I'm told it doesn't have 3D at all this time.SaiyanGod117 wrote:The fact that's it only barely doing better than ROF is quite baffling.

So that would explain why the gross is so close to Resurrection F though the ticket sales are a good bit infront.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
but why 200 screens less than ROF?? have they spend their money for international advertising/screenings or what happend ???
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
Not sure what the drop is going to be like this weekend because there's several new releases. Right now Broly is ranked #5.
It now being out over a week means it's performance can be compared to the same day last week. As of yet it's doing about 1/7th of where it was this time on opening day.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
Movie got up to #3 in the end.
The movie sold about 29% of its admissions last Friday. It also sold more tickets than any other day this week except for Monday.
Now if I go by the average ticket price of last Friday then it made ¥70 million. If I were to go off it's average ticket price from Monday to Wednesday then it should be more like ¥82 million. So it might be somewhere in the middle.
I'd estimate total so far of ¥1.44-1.45 billion ($13 million).

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
Nope. Broli opened in more theatres. It has less screens which means jackshit. It also got all the biggest screens with the highest boxes unlike F which is what really matters. One Piece Film Z opened in the second week of Dec just like Broli with around 301 screens which is even lesser than Broli and made ¥1.1 billion in its opening weekend which is still top 5 weekends of all time for animated movies. Screens hardly affect performance.
Weekend estimates should be out maybe late today or tomorrow. 40-50% drop compared to last weekend is expected usually, but we will see.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
Resurrection F dropped 51.5% on its second weekend. I'm hoping that because Broly didn't open on the weekend then it will have a smaller drop. Anything over ¥400 million would give it a better drop and would also ensure it stays ahead of Resurrection F.
It'd need a 42% drop to match Resurrection F's second weekend which might be a bit of an ask.
I'd hope it'd be around $17 million by Sunday.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
The Weekend Forecast for Japan has been given (basically an estimate in advance) and Broly is being predicted for a second weekend of ¥447 million ($4 million) for a total of ¥1.825 billion ($16.3 million).
If that were to hold true then that would be behind where Resurrection F was after its second weekend despite having an extra day on it. It would be more in dollars though.
So far though it's just doing similar business to Resurrection F, it hasn't broken away from jt.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
This Saturday, the movie appears to have sold about 45% of the amount of tickets that it sold last Saturday.
If that percentage were to stay the same throughout Sunday it would gross ¥365 million for the weekend. It should do more than that but so far it looks like it's not gonna do what Resurrection F did on it's second weekend. Despite it supposedly being a good movie, it's drops are no better at all, might be worse yet.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
It did better on Sunday, did about 53% of the tickets as last Sunday. Based on these ticket sales, they're down by 51% which should mean that if the average ticket price was the exact same as last weekend then it would make ¥400 million. I'm hoping for more though because that's not that great, a slightly better hold than Resurrection F had.
It should definitely be above ¥1.8 billion by now, maybe up to ¥1.85 billion (about $16.5 million). Again still the same as Resurrection F.
Tomorrow is Xmas Eve, I'm told that it will be as good or maybe better than a weekend day. Which means it could potentially pass ¥2 billion on it's 12th day which is how many days it took Resurrection F to reach that mark.
Estimates, if it's anything like last week should be out in about three and a half hours, I'm hoping for anything above $16 million.

So how much money do you guys think the movie will make in U.S alone?
