Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #2 Thread: "Super Hero"

Guys, he said one of the battles will feature an unexpected character, he's not talking about the main antagonist, so don't expect a major villian returning to be the films antagonist.

I'm expecting someone like Paikuhan or Hit to assist in battle.

My first thought when i read of an unexpected character was Uub.

At Jump Fiesta 2018 or 2019, I think they had a Toriyama message about a new story he was working on. While that "story" could have been Granolah, it's also possible it was for a movie.
I definitely think the movie is AFTER the Granolah arc
Because Moro starts right after Broly and the gap between Moro and Granolah is very short.
Also consider, they want to have UI appear in a movie most likely, and Goku doesn't master it untill the Moro arc. Before that, Goku doesn't mention ever using it(post T.O.P).
So whatever the film is, marketing wise, shouldn't have Granolah, Frieza, Heeters or Broly, as that could spoil the Granolah arc.
We know the Super Manga is doing bad sales wise, in Japan, and they could use the movie as a marketing device to encourage fans to read the manga.


My hope would be something new, like the unexplored Universes, or the Demon realm.
I also hope it's End of Z stuff since ethe Granolah arc is about 3 years away, but I feel they want to milk the ten year period for as long as possible.
Would love to see a Uub story, sorta in a OG DB fashion.
My wish(highly unlikely) would be to have a "Buddha" like character who proves to be Gokus ultimate challenge. They could even tie it in, with the Dragon God Zalama.
But I fear it's a Frieza/Cooler and Broly tie in movie probably....

At least I now have a personal "worst case scenario" for this movie: a full cgi film that rehashes stuff we've seen before leaving no room for any surprises.

Toei is capable of good cgi (recent precure movies and ending songs), but wow would it be disappointing to, imo, after they've gotten themselves together with Wano to waste all those 2D animators and their unique styles to instead have one long videogame cutscene where everything is on model all the time as the next db movie.

I can't imagine they would need Toriyama to rehash stuff, so I doubt thats something to worry about, but I agree on the full CGI as someone who much prefers 2d animation.

They can use a mixture of 3D and 2D animation in the movie. For example, a movie with Janemba can give us some cool 3D visuals in Hell.

A portion of the fanbase would definitely be happy about this.

I hope they at least reveal the movie's title. I'd like to know sooner than later if this is going to be Cooler, Janemba, Moro, or someone new.

Wow! 10 pages already. That's definitely a sign of community excitement. I'm hoping for ToP 2. Only this time it can have the speed that the first ToP should've had and I guess Broly can be 1 of the stars. Maybe 5 fighter for each universe can make it go by even faster and keep everything character based.

All in all, I'd rather have a light-hearted movie like BoG. RoF and Broly was too much doom and gloom. We get enough of that in the series. Let's do something adventurous next with a little bit of mischief and competition thrown in, like the spirit of classic Dragon Ball.

And I agree, up until Broly, BoG was my favourite movie. The Vegeta Bingo dance is one of my favourite moments. More of that and I'd be happy, maybe do something with Gohan/Videl wedding? Like was mentioned back when BoG was still in production.

I hope they show us something, I don't expect something major like a trailer but I dont want to wait months having absolutely no idea of what this movie is going to be, obviously they won't show much today but at least a hint, title or something please.

That's exactly my thought knowing that Dragon Quest Dai no Daibouken should be at the end around 2023 and since this movie is taking place at the Goku Day which is also the birth of Piccolo a Namekian, Namekian that was referenced during the Granolah arc I bet on the reintroduction of Slug in some form or sort.
