http://www.kogyotsushin.com/archives/to ... 160745.php

We have actuals as of yesterday, the movie stands at ¥1,274,075,790. That's with 947,690 tickets sold. Basically about $9.5 million.

That's more than I thought, about ¥50 million more. There's no weekend actual yet just an overall one. It was #2 after Top Gun though.

When the weekend figure comes in I'll post it. Otherwise I'll give anyone on Monday in a few hours.

Monday did 46% the ticket sales of last Monday. In line with the weekend drop it seems.

I can probably make better estimates tomorrow when second weekend actuals come in so I can determine how much it made through the weekdays but for now I'd say ¥32-35 million for the day.

Should have passed ¥1.3 billion now though.

How does this compare with Resurrection F and Broly ?

Resurrection F did about 56% and Broly did 222%. For Broly it was a holiday. It wasn't for Resurrection F though, it started its Golden Week on Wednesday.

So Super Hero dropped worse.

Oh... they're apparently going to give promotional art made by toriyama himself this week-end. You think this is going to help ?

Well it certainly won't hurt it.

On Wednesday it apparently has its 4DX release so that might help soften the blow a little.

Second weekend actuals

¥300,400,030 (-55.2%)

Largest second weekend drop so far though only by like 4%. It's practically Resurrection F and Broly's third weekend number.

The weekend was pretty much what I expected it to be (like 2% higher) so it was the weekday grosses that were more noticeably higher (by 15%).

It means between Monday and Thursday the movie made

¥303,785,540.

Based on the first weekend gross I calculated that it could have been ¥264 million so obviously the average ticket price is higher on the weekday.

So yeah maybe Monday was about ¥35 million.

I'll give an update on Tuesday soon.

Tuesday did 43.6% of last Tuesday's business. That's a bigger drop than yesterday where Monday did like 46% of the previous week. I'd hoped for more.

Should have made about ¥22-23 million. Total around ¥1.33 billion.

Wednesday will increase. Apparently it releases on the 4DX format tomorrow so hopefully it should reduce the week to week drop.

Also just for comparison for anyone not looking at the original post.

Black = Battle of Gods
Purple = Resurrection F
Green = Broly
Red = Super Hero

Weekend 2: ¥424 million ($4.3 million) = Total: ¥1,772 million ($18.0 million)
Weekend 2: ¥466 million ($3.9 million) = Total: ¥1,833 million ($15.4 million)
Weekend 2: ¥419 million ($3.8 million) = Total: ¥2,037 million ($18.2 million)
Weekend 2: ¥300 million ($2.2 million) = Total: ¥1,274 million ($9.5 million)

Wednesday did 40.6% of last weeks business, so about ¥40 million. Should pass ¥1.4 billion on Friday. Hoping for at least ¥1.6 billion after the third weekend.

It's falling further behind as the days go on. Down 46% on Monday, 43% on Tuesday and now 40% on Wednesday?

With the 55% weekend drop too it really doesn't seem like this is holding on very well.

Also sorry but no the 4DX opening wasn't on the 22nd it was on the 25th, the Saturday. Maybe that can be a bit of a saving grace.

Your acting like this movie is just doing horrible and it’s really not. All those other movies had help, being a holiday or spring break. Goku and Vegeta are the faces of DB and are barley in the movie, so for a Gohan and Piccolo lead movie this is good, Japan is Gokus city where as Gohan and Piccolo are more popular outside Japan. It’s making money, not every movie will do the same numbers, this movie is holding well, it’s literally ranked in the top 5. It’s in the middle of June which is not a good month for movies in Japan.

It's not that, I expected the movie to suffer from lacking the holiday.

This is another matter altogether. It's actually not holding well is the problem. A 55% weekend drop is steep, that it's steeper than Resurrection F which had far more room to fall isn't a good sign.

That the week over week drop is increasing is even worse.

On Sunday it was down 45.5% from the previous Sunday. That has grown to Wednesday being down 59.5% from the previous Wednesday.

No other current movie has dropped nearly that bad week over week. I think the next lowest was 56% which is a hell of a lot more than 40%.

The increases are becoming smaller and the decreases are becoming larger throughout the weekdays.

Thursday did 45% of last week's so made up a little more ground but Thursday is the weakest day of the week so won't account for much.

Maybe around ¥18 million. Total around ¥1.37-1.38 billion.

So how many more days will the movie be shown in Japanese theaters ? Just a third week or maybe more ?

Friday saw an increase of 50%. It did 48% of last Friday. Maybe about ¥27 million.

Last week, Mimorin tickets from Monday to Friday were 146,600 which accounted for ¥303 million.

This week Monday to Friday comes to 62,600 (down 55%) so if it worked out the same that's ¥135 million.

Which should put it around ¥1.41 billion.

Tomorrow it opens in 4DX theatres (for real this time) and supposedly there's some Toriyama gift thing which I dunno about that, so again hopefully that softens the drop.

Really could do with dropping less than 40% for the third weekend. Getting to ¥1.6 billion would be nice but that's probably a stretch.

Oh it'll be in theatres for some time yet. If you check the original post you can see there's information for the previous movies for at least seven weekends. This is only about to have its third weekend.

Saturday has gone quite well today, the 4DX and Toriyama gift combo has clearly done something. It's only down 27% from last Saturday. If it all worked out the exact same (it won't) then that should be like ¥106 million. So about ¥1.51-1.52 billion total.

Now last week Sunday saw a 4% increase but considering that today was "day 1" for the 4DX/Toriyama combo then I would probably expect a decrease tomorrow. It would be great if it did increase, in fact it would be good if it just stayed level but no it might dip a little, hopefully not enough that it could stop a third weekend of ¥200 million.

Well a nice surprise, Sunday did increase after all. Up 4.5% from yesterday so about the same if not a tad better than last week. That's about ¥110 million.

This weekend did 73% of the ticket sales as last weekend. As last weekend it did ¥300 million them this weekend it should work out as ¥220 million. I'm hoping it comes in higher though because the 4DX will boost the average ticket price but then it could be lower just depends on how the sites tracking things.

But yeah at ¥220 million it would be the lightest third weekend drop which it could do with after having the heaviest second weekend drop.

Could be around ¥1.62 billion.

Edit: Tairo is estimating ¥1.64 billion.

#2 -'Dragon Ball Super Hero - $1.65M/ $12M

That's ¥223 million for the weekend and ¥1.62 billion. This is just an estimate though. We will get the actual figure at the least for the total tomorrow.

""Dragon Ball Super Super Hero" continued in 2nd place as in the previous week, mobilizing 166,000 people and raising revenue of 232 million yen in 2 days on Saturday and Sunday, and cumulative mobilization of 1.21 million people, exceeding 1.6 billion yen."

Google translation from Oricon.

So a third weekend of ¥232 million. A better third weekend gross than Battle of Gods. Only a 22.6% drop.

Figured in would pass ¥1.6 billion. Just depends by how much exactly. I'll update once I know.

It's about time Toei releases a new trailer spoiling the big stuff, in order to hype more people in going to the theaters.
The goal now shouldn't be being worried about spoilers, but making as much money as possible.

The only big thing Toriyama's new illustrations don't spoil is Gohan's new form and It's not like the other DB movies made less money for spoiling everything anyway.
A world without Dragon Ball is just meh.
