Has this movie been a flop or has it done decent numbers? Not expecting it to outperform Broly or Battle of Gods but hoping it passed RoF
You have it other away around. ROF grossed more than BOG in the Japanese Box office. BOG made ¥2.99 billion and Rof made ¥3.74 billion. The thread creator wrote the grossings on the top of the first page. As he said, DBS Super Hero made over ¥ 2.32 Billion as of right now. So i believe it might match or Surpass BOG's ¥2.99 billion

It's definitely not flopped at all, it's just not made as much as the others recently.

Anyway actuals have come in as of July 24th

¥2,324,420,000

That's only ¥1 million less than what I had it at it so that's good. Just shy of the Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan total gross. Today I think it did about ¥9 million as it did the same sales as last Wednesday.

That would make it ¥2.333 billion so more than Broly.

The next one to surpass is Coolers Revenge which made ¥2.38 billion. It may or may not pass that by Sunday.

Tuesday was up 33% from last Tuesday, along with other kids films apparently an effect of summer vacation though that began on the 18th so not sure why it's happening now but whatever.

Should be like ¥7 million.

Total around ¥2.34 billion.

Wednesday was up 25% from last Wednesday, gonna say about ¥10 million and around ¥2.35 billion.

Still no weekend actuals out yet.

Good chance this passes Coolers Revenge total of ¥2.38 billion by Sunday.

Thursday did 90% of last Thursday or just pretty much the same as Tuesday so again about ¥7 million. Still about ¥2.35 billion.

Weekend actuals should be coming later, I hope.

Jurassic World will be coming out this weekend, not sure if it's going to take theatres from this. Doesn't seem like it for Friday though.

Broly Second Coming at ¥2.47 billion.

Good chance it does pass that as it should only be around ¥115 million away now.

The weekend actual for July 23-24 was ¥44.3 million. A 38% drop from the previous weekend.

Friday did 76% of last Friday. Maybe ¥6 million.

Total could be ¥2.36 billion now.

Hopefully it can surpass Super Android 13! and Return of Cooler. I've made peace with knowing Super Hero is going to be the lowest grossing movie of the modern era, but I want to see it at least in the same ballpark as them box office-wise when all is said and done.
Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

Saturday did 53.6% of last Saturday. Less tickets than Wednesday (barely) but maybe more in gross. Should be like ¥11 million.

About ¥2.37 billion.

It's gonna be at Coolers Revenge amount by tomorrow give or take a few million.

There's very little chance of it passing the ¥2.72 billion of Return of Cooler. If you look at the OP you can see that both Resurrection F and Broly made like an extra ¥150 million after the seventh weekend.

Super Hero would need an extra ¥400 million. It'd need an extra ¥225 million to reach Super Android 13 even. That's not impossible but I wouldn't bet money of it.

I would have thought that Super Hero would have made at least more than all of the 90s DBZ films. That's kinda underwhelming, but not entirely unexpected, in my my opinion. The film was marketed so poorly in Japan, that interest in the film seemed to die down a lot quicker compared to Battle Of Gods, Ressurection F and DBS Broly.

Actually if you check the original post you can see that Super Hero has been making more money than the past movies late on its run.

Between the 5th and 7th weekend Resurrection F made ¥160 million and Broly made ¥199 million but Super Hero has made ¥233 million. I

The delay probably hurt it a lot because it meant it no longer opened in front of a holiday week unlike the others.

Then there's the fact the show has been off the air for 4 years now. Amongst other things.

Battle of Gods didn't make a huge amount more than some of the 90s movie itself but yeah this one at best is looking to finish in the Super Android 13/Broly Second Coming range.

You never know if it's lucky maybe it can beat the 90a movies but Return of Cooler which was released when the anime was its peak and along with other movies too.

Sunday was up 19% from yesterday. The weekend as a whole did 57.1% the tickets of last weekend.

So if last weekend it did ¥44.3 million then this weekend it should have done ¥25.3 million.

Total should be ¥2.38-2.39 billion. Gonna be a slow crawl to ¥2.5 billion if it does get there.

How many weeks will it be in theaters? I believe it's usually 2-3 months but could be shorter in Japan. The last three films made less than 200 million yen more after the seventh week so I assumed it wouldn't be in theaters for too long after that.

I have no idea. Its still in 373 theatres. Not sure how many it opened in but I think it was that amount so it hasn't really lost any if at all. One Piece Film Red opens this Saturday though which is also by Toei and I imagine it'll take a lot of theatres from it.

It was #12 in the rankings today so that's not too bad so I wouldn't think it was going anywhere just yet.

Anyway I've not heard of any updated actual yet. Monday did 89.5% of last Monday so I'd say that about ¥7 million or so.

Weekend actuals - ¥25,889,510

Total - ¥2,392,445,410

Tad better than I expected, not for the weekend because that was what I expected so the weekdays really. So Monday was probably more like ¥8 million.

Should have passed ¥2.4 billion with Monday.

So next up would be Broly Second Coming at ¥2.47 billion along with the ¥100 million more countdown needed for ¥2.5 billion because that's as far as it's going.

Thursday did 80% of last Thursday so about ¥6 million for a total of what's probably about ¥2.42 billion now.

Could be around ¥2.44 billion by Sunday.

I'm glad Super Hero is still going strong. I'm excited to see it in theatres on the 18th hopefully.
