Fantastic episode! No complaints over here.

The animation/artwork for the next episode is trash, though. I understand the timelines that the artists have and their lack of experience with the series, but still. It just devalues the product. I hope when/if they clean up things for the DVD release that they use it for the eventual american broadcast version.

Why are we focusing on three seconds of ugly animation from a preview, when it's sandwiched between two perfectly fine cuts? Really.

If next week is genuinely bad, then go crazy, but that preview didn't show anything worth getting upset over.

Naoki Tate did Episode 5, but he also did the absolute best episode of Super so far: Episode 11.

From what the staff have said about Episode 5, it appears to be an unfortunate anomaly.

Never actually seen a proper translation for these series of tweets, but they come from Ootsuka Ken, one of the animators on episode 5. He mentions an "animation collapse", I believe.

Would be nice to get a full translation if anyone's up for it!

Eighteen key animators are credited for working on Episode #5. None of them had much in the way of time to work on the episode, nor did their animation supervisor, Tate Naoki, have much in the way of time to correct their drawings. Tate Naoki was the animation supervisor for Episode #11, so for him to be the sole animation supervisor for Episode #14 would be too soon, especially after him working on Episode #12 as an assistant animation supervisor. One or two of those shots did look like they could have been Tate providing key animation, however.

I felt like this was the most enjoyable episode to watch so far, not only was the fight scenes good, and overall animation high caliber, but I was so entertained, I got sucked into the episode and completely loss the "this fight is taking forever to end" feeling that most feel. I felt like a kid again this entire episode, and was completely wrapped up in this new era of dragon ball. I must say, that if this level of overall quality keeps up, I think Dragonball Super will definitely make it's mark in the overall dragon ball world and legacy. Very good job. Incredible.

Freelance animator? I hope he keeps doing some animation for DBS, his work is just... genius! I'm not even exaggerating. That scene was movie tier gold.

Yeah, Takahashi can pretty much work wherever he pleases. If he's interested he could always work on the project again, assuming he asks or is asked by a member of the staff.

I would just like to say that I genuinely do not get the complaints about the preview's animation quality. Not only do I think it looks fine, I actually think it looks pretty damn impressive... Of course, just watch those 30 seconds be all the action-shots we get in the entire episode.

I really liked that shot of Gokuu kicking, as well as charging the Kamehame-Ha. There's definitely one or two good key animators working on Episode #14.

Different regions have different people reading the sponsor spots, and Nozawa only reads the Tokyo(?) airing I believe. I have no idea if the other regions hire anyone special or not.
