Gohan vs. Cell with SH Figuarts

Post by SUnicron » Thu Jan 03, 2013 3:17 pm

Hi everyone, I decided to create an account here (very informative site btw), to share with you a project I'm currently working on.

A couple of weeks ago I caved and finally bought my first DBZ Figuarts figures, my two favorite characters Cell and Gohan. These figures are so awesome they inspired me to recreate their epic fight using these two figures. I try to be as faithful to the panels in the manga as possible, except of course when I have no choice (characters that I don't own), or to keep it a bit shorter.

I hope you guys enjoy it :)

Haha, that's actually pretty cool. These figures are definitely suitable for this and your effects pretty much seal it. Good job!

Wow, this makes those comics from Temple O' Trunks look like crap. No offense, Meri...

This is sick! Clever idea with the #16 head. It doesn't look jarring at all, which you would think would be the case by adding a still in the mix.

I love the tears you added in that final shot of SSj2 Gohan. :D
I wipe it off the tile, the light is brighter this time, everything is 3D blasphemy.
My eyes are red and gold, the hair is standing straight up, this is not the way I picture me.
I can't control my shakes, how the hell did I get here? Something about this, so very wrong.
I have to laugh out loud, I wish I didn't like this. Is it a dream or a memory?

Yep, I had to put the tears in there, for me its *the* image of Gohan and one of the most beautiful images from the anime. I didn't appear in the manga though, so this panel from my comic is the only panel not based on a panel from the manga.

Wow, this is beyond great! I've always wanted to do something like this when I got my SH Figuarts, but I don't have the patience it takes with figures to make it this amazing! I can't believe how accurate you got everything. How did you do the scenes where the figures clearly can't stay in a spot on their own? For example, when characters are in mid air with their legs swinging. Did you use a stand then edit it out of the shot in post?

In most cases yes I use a stand (or just my hand, as I don't have a very good stand :P ). With other shots (mostly when they're completely in the air) I just take a separate picture and simpy cut and paste the figure.

Anyway, :
