More like Toriyama made a Marvel characters ripoff saga, if we're taking this seriously. All of these characters, and practically all of the plot points you brought up, predate Dragon Ball by decades.

Who'd let Goku be the leader? He'd eat all the food. Also Bulma probably should be the brains and Piccolo the leader. Goku should be the brawler. Speed Fighter could be literally anyone, but I guess Vegeta now that he's second strongest or tied for first. Not sure I'd call Trunks a weapons expert either. He uses a sword...but that's it.

The reason Goku would be chosen as leader, is that he knows how to rally support and always find another option when stuck in a tough situation.

I'd say he's the heart and soul of the team. The leader should always be the planner and strategic person.

Vegeta is the sniper. Y'know, the guy who always stands back and shoots from afar.

Kinda like how the only thing Vegeta knows how to do is spam Ki blasts.

Piccolo is pretty confident on his speed, but he should be the leader, Goku the brawler.

It doesn't matter how much of a great planner you are, all it takes it that one certain member of your group that you recruited and remained loyal to you to the end and also happened to be happened to be a one man army, that will bail you out at your darkest hour. The Walking Dead is poof of that.

I mean strategy and planning don't count for shit in a zombie apocalypse, because they are virtually no rules in the scenario and nature of the situation is so wild, you can really can't plan for anything. Anybody could die at any given moment, no matter how prepared you are.

Yes it does. A leader needs to be smart and tactical. If they ask Goku what to do as leader, he'd say "Let's go beat up some Zombies". That'd be his plan. A leader is someone who can rally people, but also make the right choices for a group. Goku is terrible at that. He's not someone who'd decide to conserve food, or avoid being bitten. He'd go balls to the walls.

When it came to Goku and Bulma, who lead? It was Bulma and for good reason. She's the smart one and would make the right choices, Goku would just jump in and fight as that's what he likes to do.
