I bet you could convert the audio with Audacity or something like that.
I don't know how I didn't get notified of this post before today but...

Converting from a lossy source introduces artifacts and compresses it even further than before. It's better to convert from a primary source that hasn't been encoded to something else previously. The ideal is to just export it to FLAC, that way everybody can convert it their own way on their end.

No, why would it? It's fiction. The strength of the characters is not possible to reach in reality.
I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

Bud, no chance of Yamamoto score for Kai TFC?

That's not actually true. The first four parts on Blu-ray and DVD did have the Yamamoto score, it did however get reprints with the Kikuchi score later on.

Even Part 5 was originally intended to have the Yamamoto score but FUNimation made sure that all copies had the replacement soundtrack. Still, if you'd read the rear cover, it credits Yamamoto as the composer.

Didn't they initially release part 5 with the Yamamoto score, then quickly replaced it with the Kikuchi score for the next wave of the release of that part?
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.
TFS getting shafted from the Kai TFC dub is a great travesty.
GT sucks, get over it if you disagree.
We'll see what happens to Vic.
Um...Listen to Waterparks.
That is all.

That never happened. That same this DID happen though, with the Dragon Ball Kai Seaosn 1 Release. It came out in September 2011 with Yamamoto, and then re-released in March 2012 at the same time as Season 2 with Kikuchi.

So did I. I did saw Kenji Yamamoto on the rear cover but it's as far as we got, the actual discs had its score replaced with the butchered Z score.

You know, the Trunks x Mecha Freeza scene with the replacement score was actually pretty well done, the rest.. eh.

Interestingly, the Manga UK release of Dragon Ball Kai Season 1 and Season 2 use the Yamamoto score for the early episodes till Freeza's transformation but then again, Manga UK releases are like leftovers from Madman. Good leftovers, in this case.

Yo! I've been using the Yamamoto Revival page for a while now but I never got around to properly thanking you for this, SuperSaiyanHedgehog. This is an absolutely fantastic project and it's even gotten me interested in doing a little Kai editing too...

I think I might try to just insert the Vic Mignogna version of Dragon Soul into every episode for my own personal BD rips. Nothing huge, really, but that combined with Yamamoto in every episode would make the dub of Kai every bit as great as it could possibly be.

And you made it all possible.

So thanks again.

Hi! So I was wanting to use my blu ray rips and add the audio to them to get the score. Parts 5 - 8 are taken care of thanks to the Yamamoto Revival Project. However, since I was not able to purchase the part 1 - 4 sets I was wondering if somebody knew where I could get a hold of the audio files with chapters for parts 1 - 4. Or were they originally part of the Yamamoto Revivla Program and I'm just not looking in the right spot?

This is so amazing that this exist! Thank you so much!!

kei17 wrote:I've checked out episode 97 and got a little surprised. Why did you replace about half of my placements? I have nothing against you because this is not mine and it's just your own version partially based on my music placement, but I think all the changes feel needless, especially when it comes to Mr. Satan's scene. I added some kind of a "serious gag" feeling to it, like "Hey, these guys are all taking him seriously!" So, placing a humorous sounding track there kinda kills it.
Hehe, yeah... You see, I had already done the music placements for 97 and 98 quite a while before yours came along. Because of this, and the fact that I thought you had some great placements, I decided to use a combination of your placements and my own. Nothing against your stuff, not at all, but I guess I really liked some of what I had already come up with, so I didn't want to change everything.

And also, I apologize for not crediting you for some of the 97 placements. I was feeling pretty sick last night, the Wi-Fi connection I was using was acting unusually slow, and I really wanted to get home and lay down. So I kinda rushed the 97 upload. BTW, here's a question to anyone reading this: I don't think this happens, but is there any crackling in 97 like there was in 96? I had meant to turn down the volume with this new episode like I did with the one before, but I forgot. It's going to be turned down in the Dragon Soul version, but I just wanted to be sure.
Out of curiosity, would anyone happen to remember what kei17's pick for Mr. Satan's scene was? The old YouTube videos of his placements are long gone.

So how do I go about adding this score to my parts 5-8 blu rays? And if its too complicated can I pay someone to do it for me?

I might be wrong but I think most just use Blu-ray rips from around the web than actually go through the process of adding it to a Blu-ray media file and then burn it on a disc. Doing so on DVDs was complicated so I assume BDs aren't much easier either.

Besides, these audio files are lossy than lossless so even then we'd not get the absolute best out of it but it's infinitely superior to the replacement Kai score.

This collection predates newer projects (like the Faulconer rescore) which try to retain more of the sound effects than this project did. In addition, the audio is IIRC stuck in .aac , which isn't part of the Blu-ray specs.

I'd love for this to be redone in FLAC and with more of the sound effects preserved, at least covering 53-63 (I. E. the Part 5 episodes that had Yamamoto on Nicktoons).

As this stands now, the transitions between audio that had the music changed and untouched audio can be fairly obvious at times.

Having recently gone through and reinserted the score myself for my Kai re-edit, I'd like to clarify that none of the sound effects are actually lost, they're just quieter and sometimes lose their stereo information, which packs a little less oomph. In my edit, I tried to remedy this by raising the volume on effects when I could and occasionally cutting straight to the Japanese when possible (I didn't have access to the Nicktoons rips at the time). I think I got better and more consistent with it towards the end of the edit, but I always tried to make the transitions seamless from the get-go. Overall I'm pretty happy with the results, and hopefully people check it out when I'm finished (as long as they don't mind watching a re-edit of a re-edit).

A lossless version would surely be really nice to have but I can't imagine how much time doing all this work took, as such, I can't complain. Maybe he released a lossy version for the sake of convenience and that it's a lot smaller (50 MB vs 200 MB) but all of his work was kinda ruined on a compressed audio format.

Some say the difference between lossy and lossless is minor but it's always better to have lossless copies.
