Re: New dragon ball game for virtual reality
Very cool. I have a DK2 and develop content for VR (I'm a software engineer that has been programming for many years), so I might check it out. I'm not sure how I feel about asking for donations for a project that uses licensed characters though (http://vr-projections.com/rift-gamesexp ... namek-exp/)
Re: New dragon ball game for virtual reality
so the point of this is to watch the show up close with vr glasses?
Re: New dragon ball game for virtual reality
The DK2 is a VR headset (not glasses; there is a screen inside of it). These demos allow you to walk around and play a game in VR, as opposed to just watching a show. A true VR experience is waaayyyyyy better than the 3D glasses you may have tried in a movie theater since you feel more immersed, and the Rift DK2 is in stereo so you have images for the left and right eyes (to get a sense of depth). I assume the original poster had a game in mind.sangofe wrote:so the point of this is to watch the show up close with vr glasses?
Take a look at this, it's a guy navigating an environment with a DK2: http://youtu.be/aETTIUc7HMo?t=1m14s

This looks like it'd give me eye cancer, but it seems like a neat idea. If it were to be finished and polished a bit more, I'd probably get it. Most likely not, but if I had the money, I would.

I've used the Rift many times (hell I develop software for it) and I don't think it would have any harmful effects unless you are really young and your eye sight is still developing. The worse that could happen is motion sickness if the framerate is crap or if the VR demo in question (that supports the Rift DK2, like this one) is designed poorly...or if you are prone to motion sickness in general.SSJ1Gohan wrote:This looks like it'd give me eye cancer, but it seems like a neat idea. A DK2 runs about $350 and is available for anyone but is still a development kit (DK2 = Development Kit 2). A commercial version is due out next year. And you would need a decent PC for the most part. There are other alternatives (Samsung GearVR, Sony Morpheus) but not all of them are exactly accessible to the general public.
