Who knows? Maybe they'll watch Super (if they do, maybe someone can recommend they watch Battle of Gods and Resurrection F instead of the first two arcs of Super to save time).
They should rather watch original DB than Super.

A brilliant podcast that makes me wanna listen non-stop! I wish I listened to this weekly since the start and watched Kai along with them -- Took me 5 days to finish all 20 episodes! It's so much fun, so I'm kinda sad they're going on hiatus...!

I was thinking more of relevancy towards FighterZ as a reason to watch Super, but they did seem somewhat interested watching Dragon Ball, too.

So do we know if they will be coming back to finish DB Kai or not? This was hillarious and fun to see how their passion for the series grow and develop

By the time they were done Super was over so they should just finish the Buu arc of Kai then roll into Super and get another 26 episodes out of that.

They should review the excellent fan cut DB RF.

I think they are taking "season break" to digest everything they've watched. They have confirmed they have the Final Chapters on Blu-Ray and from what they said on the last episode, they are not done with the world of Dragon Ball.

The boys are back in town
They are back and they go over the History of Trunks, too.

Are they doing Bardock: Father of Goku, too?

Wasn't surprised that they didn't particularly like The History of Trunks. Can't wait to hear their thoughts on the Buu arc, though! I have this feeling that they might end up loving it because of all the cool Vegeta stuff in it and just how goofy the arc is. The Final Chapters does a good enough job at trimming out all the fat, so hopefully they won't find it dragging out in sections.

Oof. I haven't actually seen History of Trunks, but I'd heard it was pretty well regarded in the fandom. This was more critical than I'd expected, but it's hard to argue with a lot of their problems. It doesn't sell Trunks' growth from being a weakling to icing Freeza, it leaves a lot of gaps in the story and the English voice acting hasn't aged well. Interesting the three performances they single out are Bulma (recast), Gohan (recast) and 18 (you're in for a rude awakening if you ever go past Kai, boys. That's what she normally sounds like).

On the bright side, sounds like we're getting back into the Buu saga soon.

I'm about 10 episodes into this podcast after Mike's recommendation in another thread, and I'm loving it.

Absolutely love the constant pro wrestling references and the occasional Metal Gear ones (two of my other favourite things).

Most of all, it's just great to experience the series again vicariously through these fresh eyes. It serves as a nice complementary dish to Dragon Ball Dissection (MistareFusion is doing Kami's work with that awesome deep-dive of the series) and a kinda-semi sequel to the Manga Review of Awesomeness.

Did they change the release schedule? I'm sure we should have had the next episode by now.

Taking a break after the Cell arc. Trunks TV special bonus episode in the meantime. Coming back for Boo arc in the future.

Get some sleep, Mike. Your typing is starting to be incoherent.

Fuck yes! I was laughing my ass off during the first 20 when they called Yajirobe "ass-eater" all the time. :D I think they'll enjoy the Buu arc given their preference for the more wacky moments of the series.

So glad that they're enjoying these early Buu arc episodes. The arc has been known for being "goofier" compared to the rest of Z, but I've always felt that's part of the reason why it's my favourite arc. It's still got the drama that we're used to seeing in Z, but the arc is filled to the brim with silly stuff that I loved seeing in early Dragon Ball. Out of all the arcs, the Buu arc always felt completely like a Toriyama story (if that makes any sense).

Dan and Jeff have said that their favourite parts of the show are when it's really goofy, so I think they'll find a lot to enjoy in the Buu arc. I cannot wait to see how they react to Majin Vegeta.

This was a good episode, I love their reactions to all the goofy stuff of early Buu, plus interesting talk about Videl and Satan's relationship. I remember Jeff was a big Chie fan in the Persona 4 Endurance Run they did way back when, so I knew he'd like Videl.

Also, I love that Jeff is astute enough to know about the production differences with Final Chapters and the different remastering process, but he can't figure out when Goten was conceived.

If I am not mistaken, the next batch of episodes that will be reviewed involve the junior division of the Tenkaichi Budokai, right?
The slow burn to Buu continues.

Yep, I'm watching along and the next batch covers from Videl's flying lessons to Trunks v Satan at the end of the juniors. It's not a bad stopping point since it ends right before we get Supreme Kai and the plot kicks off.

There's lots of really fun stuff for them to go over in the coming episode. My concern is the episode after, which will have Videl vs Spopovich. We can all agree the show went too far on that one, and it's not going to be pleasant to watch or to hear them talk about.
