Also really no GT huh? I’d have thought since there are 10 classic sagas we’d maybe get one each from Super and GT but I guess not. Although this pretty much guarantees Tournament of Power will be on this list which is fine by me since it’s my favourite Super arc.
I'd say the only decent arc in GT is the Baby Arc. Lani explained the problem with the Shadow Dragons Arc pretty well, so by default, the Baby Arc is the only one they could put on in any good faith.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

The start of any given series is always its most experimental, but you can't deny that the first time is always the most special.

I'm planning on rewatching the series in order from DB, Z Kai, Battle of Gods, the filler episodes from Super on, & Super: Broly, so I'll reserve judgment for after I rewatch the early stuff, as I've only watched them once each.

Top 12 Sagas of Dragon Ball | #10 | DBCember 2021 - Universal Survival Saga

That's right, the freaking Tournament of Power made it to the top 10!

And I gotta agree. A lot of lows, but the highs were so goddamn high.

ToP making it above Pilaf is pretty wild, but also oddly appropriate. If Pilaf is what the series began as, then the ToP is what it ended up as, for better or worse.

Top 12 Sagas of Dragon Ball | #09 | DBCember 2021 - Buu Saga

Personally I'd have put Future Trunks and Universe Survival above this one.

You know, a lot of the Buu Arc's complicated ups and downs mirror a lot of the same things in its DBS follow-ups.

Great character moments and concepts, often questionable execution and lack of depth, still a whole lot of fun that you don't see in the rest of the series.

Except Goku is more in-character & not often played for an idiot. Some questionable & outright stupid character decisions Toriyama pulled aside, Goku was more in-character in the Buu Saga than in most of Super.

I would've put the Buu arc a little higher, but yeah, it's as flawed as modern society, so I can understand that. The non-sense is also part of its charm, to me.

I'd probably put it above Cell arc and above maybe some DB arcs, too, though. Definitely above any DBS arc.

Ah, King Piccolo.

I remember fondly how the original DB got some serious stakes with the start of his story saga. It was fascinating to see an actual serious storyline from an animated series back when I was a wee lad seeing this for the first time.

Much like the King Piccolo arc before it, Tenshinhan's arc is a prototype for a formula we'd see reiterated on and improved, the antagonist redemption.

And it's actually one of the better examples, mainly because Tenshinhan isn't too terrible for it to feel hamfisted.

You lasted longer than me. I lost interest with FT Trunks arc placing 12th.

The Red Ribbon Army arc.

Isn't this the one where Goku's killcount absolutely skyrockets and then barely ticks up from that point onwards?

Yep in the RRA arc he kills:
Murasaki(by accident)
Captain Yellow
Buyon
Tao (before being retconned that he survived)
God knows how many random RRA soldiers in his assault on HQ
Staff Officer Black

After that he kills:
Tamborine
Drum
Piano
Piccolo Daimao
Yakon
Pure Boo
