If they were able to abridge Movie 7, it seems odd that they wouldn’t be able to put together a decent script for the Bojack movie, especially since that film actually had some decent character stuff. Then again, Movie 7 had a redneck bad guy, a robot that inexplicably drinks alcohol, and Goku getting hit in the groin, so I guess there’s that.

Respect to Team Four Star for professionally acknowledging their interests and limitations on Bojack.

Now, just waiting for the original early DBZ episodes to be remade to have more background music instead of the (now strange sounding) empty silence.

Also better voice acting, audio quality, editing, footage...y'know, just the minor stuff compare to THE MUSIC!
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.
Vic Mignogna: Good actor & singer, but a MAJOR douchebag.
Sean Schemmel blocked me on Twitter over a misunderstanding for which he acted on impulse, so I've got THAT going for me, I guess.

That's fair enough. I'm really excited for the Dragon ShortZ, those look like a lot of fun. It'd be cool to see the DBZA cast unrestrained by the limits of the original footage. You could sort of tell they were itching to change it up based on how the last few Kai videos and that JoJo thing were- just rapid-fire highly edited comedy.

I've gotten bored of a lot of TFS' other content recently- I used to follow TFS at the Table religiously, but somewhere along the way it started to drag. I haven't seen like the last ten episodes, I'll have to catch up at some point knowing it's nearing an end.

If they think that about Bojack Unbound, I wonder how they feel about the rest of the old DBZ Movies, because Broly in Second Coming barely talks, Bio-Broly is worse, Janemba isn't much better and then we have Hirudegarn...
A world without Dragon Ball is just meh.

Well, I mean, there are objectively worse movies in DBZ's history. Like, I personally don't care for the Cooler movies or the first Broly movie, yet they were able to make them work because they had more to work with. Like, with Cooler, they had the main villain & his posse to work with & in Broly, they made the point that Broly is awful as a creation. I can understand if they didn't feel they had anything to work with, since there aren't a lot of scenes with Bojack's entourage & the main villain himself doesn't have much of a personality to go on. Broly 2 & 3 they could probably fuse into 1 movie (makes sense because both are awful, but one is a direct sequel to the other) to make a more cohesive experience & the fact that Bio Broly is legitimately more terrible than Second Coming. Like, Second Coming is fucking boring, but at least it makes sense to exist as a product outside of being torture porn of the heroes. Bio Broly has NO reason to exist whatsoever other than the director wanted to make it happen.
I said that because I KNOW Kaiser & crew consider it the other way around & I want him to consider this fact.
Janemba, though he's just a copy of Buu, at least exists in one of the best pre-BOG Z movies, Fusion Reborn, so they'll make that one work, & Wrath of the Dragon at least has Tapion as a character, whom they've mentioned in the series proper, so they'll definitely have stuff to work with there.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.
Vic Mignogna: Good actor & singer, but a MAJOR douchebag.

If TFS were able to abridge Movie 6 and Movie 7, I don’t see why Movie 9 would’ve been too difficult to work with, but it’s their series. Still, if Movie 9 was too difficult for them to come up with any material for, I don’t think the next two Broly movies will be an easy task either. They already used pretty much all possible jokes with the the character, so what else is there to do? Besides, now that Broly has been rebooted, I feel that gives them even less of a reason to even bother.

They’re better off just skipping all the way to Movie 12. That one ought to give them plenty of material to work with.

It occurred to me after reading Kaiser's Reddit post that Bojack could've worked as a Halloween special. Re-conceiving it as such would've already allowed for a shorter running time - five to ten minutes, max - and the footage could be twisted to the concept's advantage by making something (very) loosely in the Nightmare on Elm Street vein. Star with Tien holding his own against Trunks, and make it clear that it's a dream Tien is having ("Wow, Tien! You're holding your own against me, and are still completely relevant!")...until he gets taken out by unseen forces. Krillin, Trunks, and the others in the weird tourney landscapes - same basic story. Culminate with Gohan's dream, where he finally faces Bojack and his crew, the Krueger equivalents. Work around the pirate issue by addressing it head-on: "Why do you talk like a pirate?" "I am a pirate." "But you're invading everyone's subconscious." "I'm a space pirate." "How does that explain any -" "AVAST!" And close off on a joke - King Kai saying something to the effect of "and that's what would have happened if Bojack had survived you blowing up my planet instead of burning to a horrible death and going straight to hell."

However - the only reason I thought of that was because the issue of a lack of character interaction was specifically mentioned. If someone else hadn't tried a more straightforward parody and publicly noted the roadblocks, I doubt any other angle on it would've crossed my mind. And I have every sympathy with writers feeling burn-out.

It's disappointing to hear that DBZA is on hiatus again, but I completely understand the reasons why. And while I can't say that I love the thought that, when/if Buu happens, we'll no longer get the team's voices coming out of the classic animation, I'd rather the DragonShortZ idea work out than not get anything at all. I just hope that, once the first DragonShortZ start to premiere, a follow-up video that more fully explains the situation than the last update is uploaded to YouTube. I imagine there's a sizable chunk of their audience that follows their YT channel but not Reddit or Discord (I don't care for Reddit myself, and only happened upon the post), so it would be nice to have a video explaining the DragonShortZ concept a bit more and what it could mean to the future of DBZA.

They could just hire new writers to write the special for them. I could do it.
Cool stuff that I upload here because Youtube will copyright claim it: https://vimeo.com/user60967147

Btw, if Kaiser, or any of the other video editors happen to be on...

How do you get your DS games to look like that? Preferably with both screens on the right side of that screen? I tried fooling around with AVISynth & VirtualDub a bit, but it's been proving more difficult than I'd hoped.

4star has earned their vacation. Remember when Toriyama was forced to make himself continue writing DBZ after Cell and we got the incredibly uneven Buu characterization.

Imagine how much better Buu would've been if Toriyama had been allowed to take even a month or two vacation instead of hammering SOMEthing out every week? Probably would've had far better ideas, because even he admitted he couldn't make Gohan work as the main...but maybe he COULD have with a bit of time to recharge.

I always found it odd that the anime had Erasa and Shapner as prominent characters (like they turned up in the group pics at the start) and then just vanished because obviously they had no idea of what to do with them. Even Goten kind of seems like Toriyama just wanting to write kid-Goku again.

As for Bojack, a Halloween special actually sounds funny, with the Galaxy soldiers being the DBZ crew dressed up. Like Zangya was 18 in costume (joke about her fighting Krillin write themselves) or Bido being 17 with a hat on. Go for it, 4star, the idea's all yours!

Actually, I was surprised when they announced they will continue with the Buu saga. It seemed like a long commitment to Abridged when it was already obvious they wanted to move into different things. So I won't be surprised if they recant from that, and won't blame them.
ShortZ seems fun, hope we see more about that soon.
